Still, if he gets mugged or ganked, it's not like he's losing a super well developed character. It might seem painful, but it's fairly easy to recover from the loss of such a weak character and start over, once you know what you are doing.

wtf, is it really that easy to tell where he is at with that nondescript mini-map? All i see are badlands that meet a forrest, how could you possibly know where in the server he is?

It's harder now than before providence (for example, in roanoke, there was basically only a single coniferous forest), but if you have a decent world map available as well as a bit of patience, you can easily find people on said map :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

You open up a world map, if you have one.
You then look for places where badlands & coniferous meet. Plus perhaps any other distinct features posted on it.
If the map includes the particular area you'll eventually find it. Places where 2 or more biomes meet are quite easy to find, since it's a landmark visible when zoomed out.

Of course most people won't be bothered, but there are some who might just because they can.

Definitely. There have been some infamous raids on streamers and such because the raiders could figure out where in the world the player was at from the minimaps.

He lived a stones throw from one of Dar's towns, so his base had likely been known to his attacker for quite some time.
