Have you checked out what a Barn requires via wiki... (not that wiki knows all but it's been gospel so far)

Word is animals die during cold snap... so if you don't have a Barn built... there's no reason to have animals...

Why do you need it?

Need them for a few different things, one of which is not a barn...

I had them survive for months out of a barn, and so did others, just easier in barns.

IDK- will you forgo barn on providence? Will you deny you aren't building one up now and/or you have one built?!

I feel like I might be missing something, I just need some dried boards - don't want to wait for the piles to finish. Not sure what a barn has to do with any of this.

Your idea is pay-to-win-ish, stop promoting it in other threads, It takes ~100 piles to build a barn, hermit can do that in one week, not experienced hermit can do that in 3 weeks. Me and my friend do barn worth of boards every week for other stuff, it only takes about 3 hours if you do it alone and about 1-1,5h if there is any help. Old players had over 7 months to build a barn and the ones who joined late still have weeks, maybe months, to do that. There is also no rush with building a barn, no one is getting animals on Providence any time soon, possibly ever.
