If I'm going to be dragged in...

Ok Im not a big player in Salem, I’m a peaceful farmer and cook who enjoys the world for all its good and bad. I make pretty pictures sometimes and a video or two other times. I also enjoy reading about the different fights and deaths that happen in Salem but I have never wanted to get involved in the messy world of factions and towns, I’m just not cut out for it.

But it seems some want to drag my town and I into it, maybe because we are on the top 10 towns now, which is really not something we want - we have no banners and we try hard to knock out any boundary stones we don't need, but with our set up we just cover a lot of ground.

So I guess I will try my hand at this side of the game, there is just one small problem - I don’t have a clue who I am talking to?

Darwoth is easy, he is a one man killing machine that knows the mechanics of the game likely better than even the Dev’s. But everyone else? To me I just mark the known names down as ‘Big player - don’t mess’, people who should be both respected and feared for the time and effort they have put into developing their characters, skills and connections. But as for what faction they are with? Nope.

So thats it really. If I’m going to have to delve into some sort of faction disagreement I would at least like to know who it is with and what it is about because right now I’m in the dark.

Assume everyone will seek to destroy that which you have built. Every new friend could be an enemy. Every new town applicant could be saboteur. Everyone you "trust" so dearly could be looking to stick a knife in your back.

Welcome to Salem

At least you won't be bored ;)

If you want to take a step in the dramaland, start with kinning everyone in providence and ask them questions about who they are, who they like, who they play with, etc etc. That will give you an idea of who is who (keeping in mind that they might lie in the process :p). Don't necessarly keep them in your kin list as they might use the informations it gives against you (your play time etc)

Keep track of who you talk with, if you have the time, take notes of who is with who, in what town, where in the map. Try to spend time (as safely as you can) in Providence to check how they act with other people.

Ask around what they feel about the people you'd like to know more about.

...basically, socialize :D And good luck !

not sure what this thread is about but since i was mentioned i am part of the darwoth faction, i no longer associate with any of the ***** that make up this game in any "allied" capacity as to date after over 3 years of salem there has not been a single group i have associated with that i have not later caught plotting against or lieing to me.

could not care less who kills who long as they leave me and my interests out of it, occasionally i will get involved in folks squabbles if i dont like something or if one party is someone i dont like, aside from that i try not to waste my time on other peoples *****.

as an aside i figured your troubles were just starting when you let some guy that killed 3 of your townmembers get away

you live, you learn, you die, and you learn some more (dieing sometimes optional).

Talking to as many people as you can is generally a good idea, even if they are not always that friendly. Reading drama threads will take care of most of the static faction-people, and there are some people (like me) that have a public HS set.

Your biggest worry should be who you invite to your town. Be very, very careful. Make a new town that you can help new players train and get better at before you invite them to your main town with all your stuff at it.
