Justice in Providence - The Case of Lizbeth Maudney

VOTING IS FINISHED
The votes have been tallied, the verdict is in. Lizbeth Maudney has been found guilty of the crime of witchcraft. His Majesty, the King, thanks the dedicated supporters of justice in his Providence colony, and hopes this will put an end to the concerns of an infection of sorcery in the new world.
The guilty, as determined by the accurate and effective methods for destroying a witch, will be thrown from the cliffs of our fair city to be killed on the rocks below. Citizens should know there was a lengthy discussion on how she should meet her end and, as this is hopefully the sole occurence of witchery, it was found desirable to avoid the more violent deaths in favor of public decency. However, should a pandemic occur, variations may be necessary to properly control these followers of the Dark One.
Your receipts may now be turned in to claim your payment for having participated in voting. A friend of the guilty has been found and agreed to stand in to accept receipts on behalf of those who voted her innocent. A member of Providence's court system has agreed to accept receipts on behalf of those who voted her guilty. They will remain in Boston for one week, after which time the turn-in period will end.
Should you or your loved ones witness strange happenings, it should be reported immediately to a local magistrate. Crimes of this nature cannot persist in a world so young and so susceptible as ours. May God watch over us all.
