John neglected work, family, and health for a year to get this game where it is and you say he doesn't give a ****? There were days when I was begging him to go to bed already, it's not healthy to stay awake for 72 hours straight. And now when he's taking some time to focus on his real life (which is turning out to take more of his time than anticipated), you all act like this. I am ashamed of all of you, shame on you alloin and everyone like you, you ungrateful spoiled children. We have a whole list of things more to do still for Salem, it hasn't even been that long a delay.

All good & well, I never said I didn't appreciate all the efforts put into the game. Any person would do the same with a revenue 8 times the investment (probably way more by now), most would hire a (few) extra person(s) to lighten the workload. But a good dev/admin would communicate with his 'employee's' (yes salem feels like a job) and warn them about his absence & warn them about critical changes... oh and be HONEST.
It's not like posting something takes a whole day, it's not like you or Marp (or Brona CottonMather, where is he?) couldn't do it.

There hasn't been any event for ages, recent patches had more grind, more bugs intended accidental mechanic changes, more chores & more required online time, popham is a dead server & providence turned out in very nice & advanced farmville with a few rare occasions of pvp, raiding, bugged, epeen boosts for darwoth, dev-interaction, shenanigans...

The game isn't for casual players anymore (casual as in play a few hours/week), even though your income depends heavily on these people, you just don't give a *****. Instead you cater the game around the leeching, autistic, brain-damaged new-adults with the speshal-snowflake-syndrome.

My previous post was a bit harsh, but you can say whatever you want, I'm far from ungrateful, just take a look at what my group & I have donated to this game, & what I have done for the game (it's not a lot, but it was done with passion).

I just dont understand how ppl can forget how was Salem before JC. I mean be honest guys. Salem is 1000x better now. Dev is a normal person too not a god. Taking holidays from time to time is a normal thing. I am sure JC will come back with his head filled with many new nice ideas. The only thing (minor issue) that could improve is better communications between devs <--> players. Any info not only from JC could calm some players. My 2 cents.

It would be nice if we could afford to hire more people, but Salem is not profitable. We've made no secret of the fact that we're doing this for the love of the game, not money.

Sure, but like I mentioned elsewhere, I thought this was a known mechanic. I doubt Marp or Cotton knew either way about it.

Well, John's been busy. It can't be helped. Bugs patches and content patches have been postponed a bit. Dev events are in a lull. But it's a sandbox game, alloin. The fun is what you make of it. Popham isn't as dead as a few people are trying to say it is, but people do seem to be expecting the devs to entertain them more than they should be expecting.

Not at all, and of course we do. We do cater to the players and have taken many, many game ideas from the Ideas and Innovations section. We're trying to make a game that is fun for casuals, hardcore, very active players, carebears, PvPers, etc., but can you see that that is difficult?

So was this one. You seem to think we're out to get you or something. We're really not, game developing is hard. :/

if i was a game dev i would login and help new player all day understanding mechanics, making events and all this stuff (how do i apply to be a dev? :s) i mean i already sit in boston all day wasting cloth by making free stuff to new players, and once marp get his JAVA fixed i have a huge event coming :)

It's a sandbox game, there should be zero dev interaction unless necessary or really special events. If you are in boston anyways then you have more than enough power to run a event.

Its not that bad. Need learn prioritize tasks. Game was never this fun. There is plnety to do. You aren't bored at all. Its true meaning of sandbox. Ppl just need set goals for themselves. I play solo atm and running town alone. Its not that bad, doesn't feel like a job.
