It will only destroy plants and trees, and I believe that's only if you use "metal" ammo, like anvils. I'm not sure what else counts as metal ammo. Maybe a baby brazier. I haven't tried it. Perhaps something really massive but not metal, like a grindstone, could also "defoliate." I'm not sure if those can even be loaded yet, though.
To be honest, I think I'm done testing. I don't have the character to definitely survive the hits, plus the hours-long debuffs are very annoying since I only have one character who can survive a devastating hit. Since the damage doesn't display overhead or in the System chat, I can't just make a bunch of throwaway alts on another account to test them. They need to be able survive.
Also, it's very murky on when you can die from Concussion. If you sleep in a bed, you can die. But can you die while knocked out? Or just logged out? I'm guessing not when just logged out, but the KO question is worthy, I think. I have other stuff I need to do than raise alts to be target dummies. I've only been playing since July 2015 so I'm not really fully set up on defenses, gluttony, farms, gardening, profession-specific suits, etc., etc., etc. Also, someone probed my base and drained a small but significant amount of my brazier/torch ammo at the outer wall. I'd feel pretty dumb if I ended up getting raided because I only had two braziers covering that wall section instead of four, but I was too busy playing pew pew with a mortar to make more wrought iron.
If anyone wants to continue my thread or take any/all of the images and information, go right ahead. I don't need credit or anything.
In the end, if you have a couple of kilns full of fired gardening pots, that means you have 50 very nasty ammo stored in a very small space. If you have a stockbin full of 100's of iron bars, you have dozens of anvils ready to go, again in a small space. If you're manning a well protected mortar, firing pots or anvils at raiders, and you have 150+ S&E, they will almost certainly leave unless you did something to REALLY piss them off, or they know you have a massive hoard of valuables.
