We kept our animals for a while outside of a barn, stacked into a makeshift fence. It annoyed my town and me because they were on each other and accessing to one was complicated, even more for gathering manure. So we decided to make a barn, whatever if it's expensive.
Now we have a barn. I am not sure yet but for now the only advantage of a barn is that the cows stopped MOOOOOOing all the time in our ears (which could have been done without a barn and with a little file modification). That's all. A barn has :
- despite it's size, very few space inside for animals if you don't want them to stack on each other
- no doors to close the animals in their box (so if you don't want your two new rams to kill each other, build boxes or idk)
- no possibility to build your own walls inside (seriously I wish I could just destroy the existing fence and make my own)

It's supposed to make animals less sick, but well ya know. -80% nerf make it... Well anyway. At this point you're not forced to build a barn if you don't want to.

...so now that I grmbled about the barn, I'll just show you the foods I have access to and let you decide if it's worth or not (note that I don't have advanced cooking) :

About other goodies... didn't have the time to try on the capes. And I don't know what other goodie you get with animals. Ah except manure maybe... Yeah not bad...

Not really. It's 6h cooldown and it's 2x stronger than the 3h foods we have now. Loin roast is pretty ****** because of the high category decrease, and if you take purity into account it's not much stronger than the 20%/40% foods we have now.

Meh. Gatting mats for the suppositories is less of a pain than getting mats for the barn imo.

I see it being usefull only when you have >~10/15 animals to take care of. Otherwise, meh.
