Yeah, putting off anything in Salem often comes around to bite you on the ass eventually. Build your stone wall a couple of tiles out and leave space to build a plank fence behind it. I don't recomend it, but at that point you can knock the stone one down. Also if you can't afford braziers, build a couple of torches.
