Ranking people based on a proficiency level seems a bit off, as maybe the one with the most insight into a proficiency realized before others that grinding it to a high level was not needed. Also, what about someone who grinded a skill from 150-600+ in two weeks because of resources available and a desire to now do that trade? While he may have an insight, should it be held to this level of esteem? If you leave that discretion up to devs for the final roster.. .then why not just make your roster? If you want to pick and choose, you can already do that without seeming to open the discussion up to all. Certain personalities will be criticized regardless of quality of input.

Perhaps you should give these titles out in the form of a forum account with that title. Allow the users to post from those accounts. I do not see Claeyt or Heff's ideas being given the time of day regardless of what title you give them. Make it anonymous to all but a few, JC, Meow and Marp.

This assumes you remain active. Players who cease playing, posting, following their chosen profession, or who fail to have any improvement ideas can be challenged and replaced early.

I read it.. it says that someone could have recently grinded it out in such a manner and now would receive the initial appointment.

Also, killing the chef shouldn't replace their insight as a chef. Cooking doesn't relate to combat, so why kick them? Other than people wanting another reason to kill people? Which really... in Salem do you need one?

But it does show a flaw of choosing based on proficiency, had they died, their current proficiency score would be low... so do they get to apply based on all time high?

If you really can grind from 150 to 600 in just two weeks you definitely fullfill the requirements to apply as you show huge commitment and knowledge of the game.

No, you can't kill them to get their position. I believe I explained our reasoning behind favoring high proficiency. I also explained that the highest proficiency isn't always going to be who we consider the most qualified. I've expressed my willingness to listen to the application of anyone who thinks they are qualified to fulfill the responsibilities of any one position, so feel free to apply if you want one of them. You might give some extra reasons why you think you qualify if you don't have the higher numbers.

For anyone who might have been discouraged by Claeyt's ramblings about needing a min of 500 or something, I've gotten quite a few applications for Master Tailor, but fewer for the other professions so far. Numbers are a good baseline for us when it comes to something like tailoring, but we're particularly deficient in applications for the ones that don't have a real purpose yet. So, if you have dreams of some mechanic that doesn't even exist yet that can be based around a particular unused proficiency, feel free to apply regardless of your numbers.

Little update for you:

The lowest number player currently 'winning' a rank has 119 points.

There are 3 ranks with no applicants, probably due to their current lack of anything solid being tied to them. It'll be a waste of an opportunity if those don't get filled.

This is the first thing that everyone thought after reading TM's post. Being told the answer goes against the stated point of the new group.
