We are targeting 1 week now. Could be 2.

If you own the Pclaim, a brand new 5 humor character can destroy a brick wall, though it would take some time.

okay, that's new.

I'm okay with it I guess then, although I don't really see the point of being able to steal keys for no reason.

When was the last time you saw a whole village covered by a p.claim ?

When was the last time you saw a 5 humor character have the materials to rebuild a whole village worth of stone, brick, plank gates?

The devs seem to be intentionally avoiding the concerns being rasied, and keep insisting about gates having no soak value, and can easily be removed by owning a p.claim.

But you know, you can always just hide a key in a random container and hope for the best.

In fairness, I don't think the intention is for hermits to necessarily have an easy time doing much of anything on their own, including stuff like rebuilding. I'm not sure that we should necessarily expect to be able to easily rebuild under such circumstances.

Looting people's inventories through leanto's/homesteads...No, can't think of anything good coming from that system. I hope the aggravation it causes and discouragement of buying anything from the store is all worth it. Just to discourage alt vaults...which has no impact on anyone's gameplay. Am I understanding this system?

It most certainly has.

Things made in Salem that are intended to 'stay' in Salem. Do in fact do so.

I'm quite probably one of the worst users of altvaults (or was, before JC started hinting they were getting removed and I stopped using them.
Hell, in early Providence I stored my iron bars, planed and oiled boards and stuff like that on alts because it was MUCH more efficient than building storage stuff (which cost materials, take precious space and take even more precious time looking through them).

If you don't see how unlimited, secure and secret storage is a major issue in the current game balancing, you're deliberately shutting your eyes to the issue.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I agree with the fact that alt vaulting should be and is becoming extinct. But, contrary to almost all the things in Salem, I can't really see the real life logic behind stealing items from the inventory of a (probably offline) character, by accessing his lean-to. Darkness and monsters and witches are a nice fantasy addition to the game, but "teleporting" items from characters to your inventory seems a bit extreme. I would classify this act as magic, or witchcraft and not a common thing to do.

Summoning another player requires evidence, so I would suggest adding an item, consumable on use, to see (summon) the inventory of the owner of the lean-to (claim stone maybe), medium difficulty (or price) to make, unlocked by Larceny.

How about lockpicking skill, which affects only homesteads? A lot of people been asking for such thing for years, yet it would be too hard to balance when it comes to gates, but for leantos (and maybe containers) it would be alright. There could be a special kind of lock for homesteads only and a chance of picking it would depend on owners proficiencies (I'm speaking about numbers too expensive for alts ofcourse), to prevent raider from endless attempts to access the loot, it should either take significant amount of time or tries per hour should be limited (let's say the same way as crime debuff affects your inability to change homestead, but instead you would be able to pick only 1 lock per 30 minutes). Unlocked leantos would be lootable as intended. This way anything in game still can be accessed, but such important items as master keys can get another degree of safety, as long as owner is ready to put some effort into achieving it.
