Moats? o.O Not what I had in mind.

Well, raiders destroy walls by building stick fences and nuking those. The only reasonable way to stop them from doing it would be to render the terrain unbuildable or use other objects, less "explosive" ones, as walls.

But, you're right, moat isn't good as it's easy to carry dirt from outside claim and just drop it in the moat. It would be harder for raiders if there was... bank? earthwall? (Dictionary doesn't help much, sry) So that raiders would have to dig dirt from there.

Brazier fire can't go through solid objects, with an exemption for tiles adjacent to the tile brazier is on.

Not sure that'd be helpful, Potjeh, as then you cut brazier fire down to one vs many even if you only have one wall (if we take that "adjacent tile" quite literally).

Try "berm," Procne ;) This might work if you can leave the land steep enough so that no fences can be built there. Since it'll already be next to a fence, you can't dig or fill it in, either. Not sure if it will complicate building the fence you actually want, though.

You can still get a lot of fire on any one tile even with that restriction, you just have to think a bit more creatively than a simple square wall. There's some interesting and time-appropriate designs on Wikipedia.

At this point it seems dumb to plan anything, or build walls as we have no idea what an update 2 months from now may do to walls. If a Brazier's take 3 act to activate them, what else are you going to do other than stack walls, fences, or whatever else? If I have spent however long building a 3 layer wall, with a claim over all of it, to protect the **** I have worked hard to get, and a freakin noob can walk by and blow the hell out of it with a fence made from a branch, then the system is ****.. I'm sorry..

Braziers activate on the first vandal act now, and the stick fences dont splash, splitrail and up do. Not that it isn't odd a broken splitrail can take a hedge down to less than 30% of its HP, though.

Fyi, the devs plan to add cliff building some time and that may very well play a big role in village planning too.

Honestly didn't know that about the Braizer's thanks, but, on the other thing. I just meant a smaller fence. Everyone can see the problem.. Slash damage, yeah we can work around that, but we shouldn't have to worry about the breaking, and or damage caused by the smaller fence's.. IMO, and that's all it is, that makes building walls useless. I also understand that this game is a living thing... Its gonna change, and that's great. Some things will be good, and some bad.. Overall I think its great that the game is getting so many updates, and Im sure the devs will see this problem, and fix/nerf it.

But is it a problem? It's not a problem just because you say it is. I have yet to see any threads about successful raids since the last update. I do see someone on Roanoke got brave and tried to attack the Russians and failed miserably trying that destroy split rail thing.
