Right now in order to progress its 120 silver per month as base (150 silver is 4.99), the more you progress the more you have to spend.

Dont tell me about killing stuff or running around getting savage charms, down the line the way this is going you prob wont be able to sell stuff to the NPC's for silver.

It is certainly a Free to Play game for those of us who never buy anything in the cash shop. That 120 silver per month is nothing compared to the amount of silver I have spent in the three weeks since I started my hermit character (I think with claim, nails, and iron, I have gone through 3500 or more silver -- all of it earned in-game -- OK, I admit I probably play too many hours a day so maybe 1200 silver if I played normal hours).

I do agree that if they ever decided to eliminate the NPCs that bought stuff for silver, life would be very different in Salem. The current economy would collapse into a barter economy based on buying stuff from players who can produce it and there would need to be a new way to buy claims since silver will quickly disappear from the game. Given how much of the early game depends on purchases from the NPC vendors to bootstrap farming and metal production, new servers would need the NPCs to buy for silver for a month or more.

That said, I really don't expect them to remove those vendors who buy stuff for silver.

Actually, if I understand correctly from chats, this isn't going anywhere. I've felt it's a bad decision, but it's not my decision to make, so yeah, that's like an hour or so grinding crickets per month. While it's a reasonable assumption to make, it's still a concept that the devs and Paradox don't share. Even in that case, there's still the player market you can sell hay, mushrooms, berries, crickets, etc. to. Leather and cotton might become near useless, but these consumables will always be in solid demand.
I am a moderator. I moderate stuff. When I do, I write in this color.

I'm sorry that you consider 120 silver a month too expensive. I make that much every day while foraging around for mushrooms. Honestly, if the cost is too prohibitive, have a smaller P-Claim. Clearly you just want to make this into a huge issue when it really isn't.

I wasnt asking for much, my suggestion in my POV is good one, really good for new players and in general.

1 Personal claim per account, upkeep free.

I hope no griefer type finds you and wipes you out, then destroys ur hard earned personal claim ... since thats doable now..

It's not a question of a "point of view", though. Your idea is objectively deficient from a mechanical standpoint.

1 Personal claim per account, upkeep free.

When registration is free and open "per account" limits mean nothing. What you are effectively suggesting here is that there shouldn't be any upkeep on any claims.

No. No it isn't.

Actually it's basically the same rent if the wiki is right.

Town Bell = 101x101 (10201 squares) for 40s per day.
Pclaim of that size = ~38s per day

Not sure what the rate is when expanding the town claim, but it would be nice if it was cheaper than pclaim to make it somewhat worthwhile. Course then once you have a big enough claim area you'd just become a village of one to save money. That might let other people walk on your land, but as long as you remember to lock your gates it shouldn't matter much.
