i have the nice buff but when i go up to santa i cant talk to him?

need to collect a cookiee from your npc claim npc then go to him and give him the cookiee.

This is what happened under the rule of JLo, we would put stockings on our fireplaces, and they would get filled with 2 random gifts on chiristmas day.

Unsure if JC is following tradition, lets hope so.

Yeah, it's quite painful when all the events are happening when you're sleeping
I wish cane thing was arranged few times, same as the catching ghost one, so people from different timezones had a chance to participate.
