Was the latest insane mini-patch mostly to increase materials needed to craft some stuffs (like wool)?

That was one thing. But I've decided that from here until the Expeditions I will simply just begin dropping all the content and let you guys find and figure it out on your own :). This way I can deal with less theory crafting and get more 'fun' out of y'all speculating the uses of certain things.

So first of all I did not even get close to reading a fraction of this thread, but obviously from the post count it is a hot topic. Initially I had a really bad time with this mechanic, but wrote it off to not having the beds and the tuning needed to make it work as intended. Assuming we are now at that state, it is obvious that for my play style this mechanic is going to continue to be an issue. I am in a small group in a starter community, and at this stage I tend to do whatever is needed, and much of it is a grind. Planting trees, farming, mining, rubble sifting, leveling, etc. Yes I do take some time to glut when I can, and increase profs, but not as much and often as I would like.

So I am finding myself still dropping into madness on a regular basis in spite of the "people in the know" suggesting it is so easy to avoid by just studying, picking a flower, or going to the bathroom every hour (*note, still not clear on the bathroom trick, but that's the last answer I got).

So without further adieu I give you Otis's guide to stopping the madness.

Step 1 - ignore the mechanic and play the game how you want.
Step 2 - when you reach madness level 1 finish what you are doing, don't get to madness 2
Step 3 - get a teddy bear and sleep in your bed for 8+ hours
Step 4 - Play on an alt (or do activity of choice)

I am sure there is a good purpose for this mechanic, but to me it seems the main thing it is achieving is forcing me to play less. I am starting to wonder if my wife knows JC and talked him into implementing this to get me off Salem..... hmmmm

Your town can probably also invest in a set of semi decent affluence items so you can go to the den and smoke a hookah. I believe that guarantees the removal of a madness level. Just keep it in a chest in the center of the town and put it back whenever you're done.
