Procne wrote:Guess HS is more in line with SC now. 200 SC gives you average +100% plenty when planting. Each +1 yield in pots is like +100% plenty for fields. So at 200 HS you should also get average +100% (+1) yield. Still, for most people the patch means more work with pot planting. I have barely used food recipes which require potable ingredients after the purity patch, since food made from meats and farmable products were so much easier to spam. So not much change for me here

the problem is that based on current results from people near 100 HS, you don't get +50%, but far lower. so it seems bugged then that 200 HS would gives 100% when 100 HS definitely doesnt give +50%
---------

also just checked, on 23 fields, the average extra plenty i got at 217 SC was 53.39%

No I have no problem with that, just thought there are lots of conservative guys around and they will whine....

The plenty bonus on fields is a random number between 0 and your S&C. I never collected data to test it, but I think it's just the uniform distribution - all numbers equally likely. So your average plenty is just half your S&C.

It seems like they did pots using a random roll until failure. So it picks a random number, either gives you +1 or stops. If it gave you +1 it checks to give you another +1 or stop, etc. (So, a "negative binomial" distribution.) With enough data we could figure out the probability of the rolls and therefore the average gardening bonus. I'd guess that they capped the probabilities at something like 1/2, which would mean that a pot yield of 2 is most likely and a yield of 3 would be the average, even with high H&S.

dangerous to assume uniform distribution ^^, based on my experience the distribution function definitely seems weighted towards the lower ones.

ya your suggested implementation of HS would be nice, i.e:
expected value of extra yield as HS goes to infinity = 0.5*0 + 0.5*0.5*1 + 0.5*0.5*0.5*2 + ....

=> sum(n:0->inf){nx^(n+1)} where x = 0.5
=> 0.5*0.5*sum(n:0->inf){nx^(n-1)} where x = 0.5
=> 0.5*0.5*dsum/dx(n:0->inf){x^n} = 0.25*d/dx{1/(1-x)} where x = 0.5
=> 0.25*(1/(1-x)^2) where x = 0.5 => 0.25/0.5^2 = 1

i did some large-scale tests back in roa, and I think I remember it being gaussian as near as I could tell. The mean was definitely s&c/2, which is all I was interested in at the time :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Has the logic behind extra plenty from SC been changed in the last 4-5 months? Before chief took Salem it was very rare to get any bonus higher than 20% of SC, so the average was lower than 1/2 SC. But lately I have been getting high bonuses regularly
