Add a Hand Mill for Grinding Grain

Postby Mereni » Wed Feb 26, 2014 4:06 am

I would like to see a hand mill added to the game. Something that allows people to grind grain by hand, perhaps at a similar Phlegm cost to pressing oil. It could be unlocked by a combination of Quarrying and Joinery & Finish.

With the new difficulties of getting high level skills like Windmill Theory, I think it's a good idea to have a grain milling option that doesn't cost so much more effort to get than Agriculture costs.

Some people don't want to go to Boston every time they need to grind a few sacks of oatmeal.

I was saying this yesterday while storing grain on a alt. Would be nice if we could at least have a quern or be able to use rocks like we can on crabs.

I agree, they should add this and remove the Boston mill. And it should take a hefty amount of phlegm to grind with a quern. As it is, it feels kinda pointless to build your own windmill.

I've always thought that, I liked the idea of having to build a windmill, but there is one in boston, so why bother.

what would be awesome is if there was rough and fine flour. Rough flour comes from town mills and querns and fine flour requires player built windmill.

When I first started playing Salem this is how I thought it was going to work, I was disappointed to find out the effort of learning wind mill construction and to then build one is only for aesthetics. I then assumed that when purity was implemented there would be a negative effect for using the one in town, but no, still no draw back.
