Banned Topic

Allo, misleading title. I've seen around on a few other sites that they have a pinned topic that mods throw in posts just mentioning who was banned and for what. Be nice to have something like that around here. It's tricky to keep up with the speed of bannings around here.
Example:

Uncleseano: For incomprehensible posts 'Date yadda/quote''

Be nice yessir?

It would be a good way of keeping track, especially if the community grows. Organized and transparent.

Since this seems to be a thread aimed at the moderators.... No. It's a horrible idea. I don't even like posting what people are banned for. That's like trotting someone out in public and putting them in the stocks for fornicating with the preacher's wife. This would be like making them wear a scarlet "A" for the rest of their days (at least rest of their days here). Those that got stupid know what they got stupid over. If they want to have posting privileges here again, they'll follow the relatively simple rules we have. After all, we do usually issue warnings before bans. (There are a few exceptions, of course. Pure spam accounts will get banned immediately without warning, etc.)

I'm not one to just lock up I&I threads, but I don't see any point in discussing it. It's not something I'll be a party to and if other moderators want to comment further, they can.
