Tent has been mentioned in several posts. Now, I make this an official suggestion for tents. I don't want it to be another leanto. There should be 2 types of tent, small tent for personal use and bigger for 2-3 people to live in. Tents could be crafted with 6-8 fabrics depends on size, 4-8 cotton sheets, 6 nails and 2 sharpened sticks. Also, cots can be crafted and inserted with tents as bundle. Cot would require 2 cotton sheets, 2 planks, 5 fabrics and 3 woodblocks/sharpened sticks. When erected, players can enter tent like house. I think the area inside of small tent should be 4X4 tiles while large one doubles that size. People can place containers inside and hang their equipments on tent's walls. The cot would take 1X2 tile area. The idea is for advanced players to move out with their belongings more easily and can be rested when devs add beds ingame later. And in course of wars between towns, participants can use tents to siege outside their adversary's place. Personal tent can be folded and equip on self while large tent needs transportation to move. People can also port from tents to main cities.

that looks like a nice idea!
every time i left my fortified house i'm sad i can't move much than i have in my inventory
but that could be useful for easy stops (just for 1 night log-off)
i think it will cost some kind of object made with cloths and stuffs... not stuffs and cloths separatly, cuz can be a problem move so much objects just to stop on a hill and make a campfire

My question is I guess I don't see what the point of this would be? Maybe you can explain. But to me moat players aren't really moving their valuables into places where they can be easily robbed.
I suppose if it functioned as a mini-claim you could carry with you it'd make a bit more sense, but there are much safer ways of transporting goods.
I mean graphically tents would be nice, but I think leantos do what they need to and we'd need a better reason for them other than a more expensive leanto / container for beds that may or may not ever be included in the game.

Well, actually you can do whatever you want with tent but the idea behind it is to be able to carry more valuable stuff with you whether it's moving out of your old place because it's raided or in case of siege, you can bring more food, more space to store mats for waste claims. Or as you say, graphically tents would be nice. And more stuff you can carry with you is cool too.

I was thinking of pre crafting the tent at home and it appears as an object which you can equip on you together with backpack or in case of large tent, it'll take 1 space on sled or whatever transportation implemented later.

leanto's allow you to port to town.
when people move, i dont recall too many of them pulling a sled unless its a somewhat close location..
i dont understand the "moving" uses for the tent. if im going to another location, i dont plan on lugging my valuables with me, i will send them to boston on the stage coach and then send them out to my new location in a similar fashion.
i dont know what function a bed serves, but i would assume leanto's will come with a bed if beds are ever implemented as newbies will require a bed ?
tents sound cool, just not sold on their usefulness

There are many possibilities for tents in the future, if you care to imagine. Like when you join a town and the mayor doesn't want you to enter their main base without say, 1-2 week trial outside the town somewhere and you don't want to waste your time building claim so tents come to good use in that situation. Or somehow devs decided to stop this alting problem in Salem and you can use them to port back and forth from Boston to your new place, tents would be a good idea to store your less valuable belongings. Also, I know this is rare, but what if there's someone whose place is near Mordor and he usually goes there to collect stuff then comes back to base with about 20 items, now there are tents, he and some friends can set up small camp with tents and food there while scavenging for stuff in darkness and come back with more items to last him for longer period of time...etc. If these few examples don't suit you, there's still rping aspect of the game where players just want to erect tents out in a field to look good. It's a game, not everything has to have a use,right?

More like portable mini pilgrim's hovel with claim stone built into it

. And it should be dye-able, methinks.

like another "teleport point" like homestean and boston? i'll like that becouse it prevents mass use of alts... however it'll allow silnge griefers to steal a ton of objects with very easy deal of time (not counting cooldown effect)
the idea could be good i think for travels where the peolpe who want to go very far without losing his homestead at home want some site where put (as example) hunted animals or very rare forageables don't find near home

sorry for necro... but at least i don't open a new thread

what about if tents aren't like different homesteads, but like the normal 1 calle "home";
they cost branches and hay;
they decay after 24 or 48 hours.
... or better buildable with a kit

wich returns when the tent is dismounted
that would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E for a dumb like me wandering all the day, the 1 who haven't time to make a leanto each time... and still want to teleport to boston in a short time tio sell 2-3 snake hides or things like that
