sticky thread on "how to make a suggestion"
Posted: Fri Apr 05, 2013 12:48 amWhen I first saw this part of the forum I was like WOOOO I can be helpful. Then I realized my big list of ideas was only adding clutter. And looking at the first page of posts I already see a few duplicate ideas.
So I think up there in the rules post should be a simple "how to submit ideas" do's and don't. Things like if you can or can't submit multiple ideas at one time, how well explained the idea has to be. If the idea is for an item should they have concept art? should they have a poll or not? etc etc. oh and a reminder to search for ideas, I messed up on that one myself. and if there isn't a master list of ideas we've had so far then a master list. I guess mainly a thread that helps us give useful ideas without making clutter or being mobbed. and if there is a thread like that then it's not working
ok what rules do we think there should be? add numbers or alter numbers
suggested guidelines for making a thread:
1. search to see if the idea has been suggested. search.php
2. go to the long list of ideas by viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4151 (you can use ctr or command -F to search for words on web page)
3. one idea at a time
4. ideas shouldn't undo core game mechanics, like how people are strangers or perma-death.
5. things to think about : how would the item/ concept work in the game world? would it imbalance the game/ how would it be implemented? would it contribute to the game or just your personal enjoyment? Is it worth the time the devs would have to spend to make it?
