Pathfinding.

Postby Urist » Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:12 am

Its pretty inconvenient to hit every tree, bush and stump while traveling far, so pathfinding must be implemented as a skill ffs. We just need this.

So, what we got:
  • Pathfinding don't work in combat.
  • Pathfinding don't work while you are on claim you are no permitted to enter.
  • Pathfinding consumes small amount of black bile, when avoiding an obstacle.
  • Pathfinding can be toggled
  • When you right-click any object, you go straight to that object, not trying to avoid it.

So, you got any arguments? Of course we need dogs, cats and the sandwich more.

Are you talking about user-friendliness thread? Can see no arguments there. You can list them here cause its the thread especially about pathfinding, and nothing else.

The ability to dodge and find your own path is a major part of raiding and pvp. If we automatically went around anything we ran into, it would change combat a lot and make raiding safer. It might also cause problems since you have to 'run into' crafting objects in order to use them and sometimes you want to run up to something and stop by running into it.

So it wont work in combat obviously, and to run into object you can simply right-click it, then pathfinding wont work too.

I dont think it's a problem to make own pathfinding, if you wish to make a bot. And it's an unlockable skill, so you have to play for a while before bot can learn this.

Getting skills takes almost zero time. 1 day of work and they will have it.
