Add a giant warning the first time a player trespasses

I went exploring around a bit with my friends last night. There were a few inactive-looking claims hither and thither and then there happened to be three right next to each other. I was just goofing around playing with trespassing, looking in baskets and going in hovels to see if they had decorated--no harm meant at all, just poking around unfenced claims. I had no idea that after I had walked into the third nearby claim, I gained a third "crime!" attribute. These little icons popped up and I just didn't notice. I KO'ed right there on someone's claim quite unexpectedly. I waited and waited and never got sent home. Then I learned that it takes 24 hours to respawn if one KO's on a claim. Of course, the character was ganked a few hours later. There goes a week of work down the drain. Not sure I feel like starting another character.

Ignore Dageir. Some people here subscribe to the "blame the victim" philosophy.

I do feel that more could be done to make players aware of these things. Sure you can learn by trial and error, but it's quite hard when there are huge consequences to errors. As far as I know, there is nothing in-game that could warn you ahead of time of the consequences of trespassing, and there'd be no reason to assume a KO on foreign property would be any different than getting bit by a snake or gored by a Deer.

It's a good thing there's a wiki for the game, otherwise everybody would have to learn every hard lesson by themselves every time. Of course it's not 100%, and you only check it if you believe you don't know something.

I completely disagree.
If you trespass, you must have set your criminal acts on. AFAIK there is a pop up info box on that. In any case, you need to set it on manually, it never "jumps" on. What's more, you have to have gotten the skill "trespassing".

There might be the fact that you do not know the consequences of criminal acts, but hey, you're a criminal.

isn't there a large screen that comes up as a warning for criminal activity?

Wasn't last time I tried. A good tutorial is a must, of course, but right now, this is a beta. RTFM.

No, but there should be, for those who think "criminal actions having negative consequences? Absurd!"

I'm just saying there should be a bigger warning like "HEY WALKING ACROSS SOMEONE'S YARD IS ILLEGAL MIGHT RESULT IN THE DEATH PENALTY" somewhere. I'm not here to debate the ethics or whether or not I am a complete idiot.

Gosh that sounds annoying. A warning is fine but it should not be super intrusive like that. At most maybe a red exclamation point should pop up above your head but can you imagine having a pop up box appear and stop your movements and actions every time you tried to trespass?

HEY! HEY YOU! I KNOW YOU TURNED ON CRIMINAL ACTIONS AND HAVE THE APPROPRIATE SKILLS BUT THE LAST 20 TIMES I TOLD YOU THAT THIS WAS WRONG WEREN'T ENOUGH. JUST WANNA, YOU KNOW, MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET IT. HEY THIS NEEDS TO BE LONGER SO THAT IT CAN HIDE MORE OF YOUR SCREEN WHILE THAT BRAZIER SHOOTS AT YOU. DON'T WORRY, I STOPPED YOUR PATHING SO YOU'RE JUST STANDING THERE.

Well, no, it shouldn't stop you if you are already about to die or in some other circumstance like that. I certainly don't mean that. But what happened was just very unexpected for me. First, I had eaten food and already thought I was good on stats. The stats bar is quite out of the way and there is no, say, like a pulsing warning around the screen when one gets low like you might see in another game. If it happens quickly, there is no sound that it is happening or other visual warning other than looking directly at the stats bar, which I wasn't doing since I didn't realize that the act of trespassing consumed stats. I know you are all assuming that I am a complete moron but I think that improvements could be made to the game on this matter.

I'm not sure why I am being berated and treated like a murderer for genuinely feeling that this is a problem and attempting to suggest a way to make the game better. Either I should have been allowed to respawn or a more apparent warning should have existed on the screen. This was an extreme consequence for something very trivial.
