and 1 higher tier of steel tools which are more efficient..

or maybe if it is too easy to get steel compared to iron;you maybe have to fill the smelter with 13 iron BARS and 12 coal for 1/2/3 steel bars...

Metal working still has a lot of development planned, I heard Jorb say in one of the live streams that they are planning to add several types of metals (they also already have placeholders for the mines when they do actually add such a thing).

^^ this, the mine entrance place holders of silver ++ other metals already exists(From what i have heard), and once said we should one day be able to craft silver directly as coin, as well have access to higher materials, i assume these might be released when metal equipment will get stats dependent on metal type / purity(apparently also).

Don't encourage them to bring that craptastic mechanic over. I can't find much seriously wrong with core mechanics in HnH, but that's one of them. (Balance issues, on the other hand....) I'd love to have steel, but not at that cost.
