Dismantle Tool.

I recently went through bit of a renovation of my home, and in the process had to remove 8 braziers- it got me to thinking we could really use a dismantling tool to yield back some materials on destruction, here's how I think it could work:
Would be an Adventure tool like destroy, however you'd have to own the land (no exceptions) - and dismantling would take much longer then straight up destroying something (with a larger phlegm cost, BUT with a lower soak as well). Upon completion you would get back 1/3 of materials used to build whatever it was, at random. (so a dismantled townhouse would have a pretty low chance of giving you back a piece of glass).
This would give newer players a chance if they messed up walls, and still no extra incentive for raiders to break your stuff.
Just a note: I noticed a similar idea posted in forum when I searched, it was different enough though I felt a new thread would be alright.
Thoughts?

I think you should add to the current thread. Your idea is a ton better tho

Thanks for positive feedback!
Which thread is the current though? The one I found is about easily demolishing owned stuff (I think it should be harder phlegm/time wise, but more possible for newer players to dismantle) and derailed pretty bad, the other ones about salvaging ovens for trophies

I like this idea. The game seems relatively realistic in other aspects so it would only make sense that someone demolishing something for improvement would try to salvage parts to re-use.

very good "add-on" to the idea dismantling seem like it could also be tied into a shills as well.. <-- I'm not on much of a creative streak today so anyone is welcome to "flesh" out this idea if something pops.

Recycling skill would be great. To flesh it out a bit:
Stands to reason if someone could build something they would have a good idea how to take it apart, making Dismantle tool available once you have settling/from the start. Recycling could be the higher tier, passive skill that makes dismantling more effective, giving back more materials faster (with pickaxe/slower axe).

I think its a horrible idea, it would give alot more incentive for raiders to destroy your base instead of just stealing. They would break in, destroy your claim, setup their own. and then go about dismantling your entire base to get iron bars and etc.

Its a great idea, and would be easy enough to implement it in a way that would prevent raiders from dismantling items.
Add a new checkbox to claimstone and/or village stone: Dismantle
Can only, ever, Dismantle on a claim that you have permissions for, or that is unpaid.
Also, it would probably cost more for a raider to take over your claim with a village claim than it would to simply purchase the materials they would get dismantling your objects.
Village Claim: 2500s + 5 Iron Bars + whatever it costs to overwrite P-claim
Cost of an Iron Bar (average, Plymouth): 100s
1/3 of materials in return: Player would have to have to have at minimum 8 braziers (4 bars / 3, 1.3 bars, rounded, 1 bar per dismantle) to recoup base costs, excluding the time investment cost. Assuming the p-claim was of average size, add another two bars to base cost - 10 bars, 10 braziers. Add in the amount of food and time it takes to remove gates or walls, cost rises even higher.
To make it worthwhile, the player would have to have a minimum of 20 braziers for it to be worth the time. And that is on Plymouth - Iron Bars are worth even less silver on the other servers.
Why the costs? Because we can't "destroy claimstones" unless they are already inactive. And raiders already destroy objects on claims - have you not seen the HoB forum?
