Coloured Flame

Postby Etherdrifter » Wed Jan 02, 2013 9:31 pm

New Random Event

Sometimes (1%?) lighting a fire at a campfire or stickpile (using a tinderdrill or flint and tinder) produces a coloured flame (Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Black).

Coloured fires cannot be "fed" (ergo refilled) and last 50% as long as normal fires.

Coloured fire can be transferred to torches for aesthetics, however when using a coloured flame to light another fire it does not pass on.

Captivating flames made at a coloured fire are substantially stronger and have different stats for each flame (black captivating flames offering a very high perennial to balance the lack of purity boost).

Food cooked over a coloured flame gains 1% purity based on flame colour (black flames offering no boost and purple being lead)

Optional Extra - If a stick pile is used an inspirational is dropped when the fire goes out (<flamecolour> ember?)

A new inspirational like "wild fire" gained randomly when lighting any fire, but only when using steel n tinder / tinder drills seems like a good idea.

AnC : 1000
FnW : 2000
SnE : 3000
NP : 2000

Seems like some nice numbers with a rate of 1:15 chance of getting one. so yea, if your willing to grind out Drills / steel and tinder could be nice :3

While interesting, I'm not sure these things would keep me from using a "perpetual" source of fire.

I think you should get an inspirational every time you manage to light a fire using a tinder drill..

Or a torch alt. Still, it's nice to reward the people who go through the effort of making fire the old-fashioned way. And coloured flames would fit nicely in the witchcraft atmosphere.

Some nut would undoubtedly build enough wood piles to turn an entire forest into one big bonfire, just to get his hands on some shiny inspirationals :)
