Improved Tradeconts to Avoid Scamming

I had the idea of how to prevent the silver scammers from ***** over honest-working players. Split the Tradecont in half, and allow only the first player to access the left side, and the second player to access the right side, with buttons in the middle confirming the offers, than accepting the trades. When both offers than the trade are accepted, the items swap positions in the tradeconts. This prevents the take-and-log silver scammers that I've run into.

That would be one way to do it, but maybe the devs think it should be hard core at that level aswell. Doing it the way it is now will make sure that the most valuable asset of all in this game will still be the most valuable: Trust and a good reputation as a trader.

While I understand such, the idea of losing 100 silver (Admittedly easy to earn back) trying to get a backpack with the inability to do anything to the person even if you have them memorized is just poor. Wish I could /describe/ the person to other people for a public bounty!

Any honest merchant would tell you his name and let you kin him for more convenient transactions later. Dont trade with people you dont know. Its hard to discredit a merchant for theft because of the number of alts, but I think everyone should get a few trusted contacts and not just trade with everyone. Remember if an offer is too good to be real, it most likely is.

Trade barrels aren't supposed to be a safe way to trade. They're supposed to leave you vulnerable to scamming. That's why there's stalls. People are paying good money (and taxes!) as stall owners to provide you with a scam free method of trading.
Otherwise use known traders through the trade forum. Scamming and being scammed is an intentional part of how Salem trade works.

It's like the difference between buying something from a reputable retailer vs. from the trunk of someone's car.

I think that makes more sense now

Do remember they only get 85% of their net sales out of that.
But yes, the trade stall system is broken because there's no mechanism for competition between stall owners and non-stall owners. First come, first monopoly right now.

Mmhmm, it's very easy to end up with a situation like we currently have on Roanoke where two of the stalls have been empty since yesterday and one of them loves to sell single items at 5-10 silver each. I can excuse the empty ones because maybe they're working on restocking. However, the one that constantly sells 1 of this, one of that for 5-10 silver just make me sigh. It's like they bought enough silver from the cash shop to rent the stall and then just sell tiny bits of cheap junk here and there in order to keep control of it in case they ever decide to REALLY use it.

Completely agree, half the stalls in Jamestown are pretty much empty, there are 2 frequently stocked stalls.
There should 4 times more stalls than there is, with options to customise them with signs, for example tailor signs or blacksmith signs and the such, chuck in a stool so that a stall owner can actually sit inside thier stall with a little inventory and other purchase-able add-ons such as a built in anvil or loom. Then we would have a proper market!
Markets in the old days were not just about trade, they were social centres of commerce, thats why most of them were bang in the middle of town.
