Well, technically speaking, you can simply buy them, claim them and just give them to your friends.

You can also buy stuff in shop as your friend. Simply change your name to your friend's name in the shop URL.
Someone already bought item in my name after someone posted shop URL with my name in it on forum :/

If people wish to spend money on salem, who are we to hamper that ability? I think it's something we should add.

Right now you can go around this by simply going to the shop and writing their account name instead of yours.

If that's the case, it should be a relatively simple addon to create a little field that says "Buying for a friend? Just enter their account name here:" and it would link them to the appropriate userid store page. Yeah, it's kinda handholdy, but at the same time it makes it clear to all who go through the store that you can buy for friends.
