I think it could be pretty cool to have the ability to manipulate bushes and perhaps trees with the correct requisite plant skill.

Perhaps at a lower level you could shape the myrtle bushes into rectangles but higher skill level would enable more shape options.

The store could offer hedge clippers (like the garden shovel) or a landscaping tool that could perhaps offer custom shaping or speed increases.

I think that ability could really add to the visual appeal of the homesteads and bases.
