Monthly Farmers Market

Once a month a Farmers Market appears in the wild .... er Providence. Lasts for 72hrs Friday Midday to Monday Midday which pretty much gives everyone an opportunity to at least visit it, the day before the markets Organiser appears.

Players can visit the Organiser and place up to 2 items (the market should have a limit on the maximum amount of spaces - such as 3 stalls worth) for sale at whatever price they set. These items will appear on the stalls on a first come first served basis, so once an item is sold the next on the list is displayed (probably have to re-click the stall to view it) with the Organiser being able to hold a max of 50 items in reserve at any one time.

Only players without a stalls can play items, although honestly i'd be up for accounts without a stall or players without the mercantilism skill.

At the end of the market any silver made, or items unsold are mailed back to the player. Taxes are obviously applied (10% perhaps).

Towns like Providence were nasty, disease ridden and dangerous places but people still flocked to the them, perhaps we should have a few more in-game reasons to be good little flockers?

I have to argue this a little. I think that takes away from the fun of trading. You can currently trade through the forums at 0% tax, but you have to deal with the possibility of shadyness, or, you can get a stall and pay a retardedly high tax rate for the security of secure transactions. PLUS, I already know this commuinty, someone (me) will put a branch for sale for 5k and f up the entire system

It would be open only 3 days out of every 30, i don't think this would be taking away from the fun of trading, i see it more as a gateway drug to hardcore trading

Yes, this is Salem, this should always be a possibility, however given the 2 items a person and 3 stalls to fill it'll take some coordination to achieve or Heff and his reputed legion of alt accounts :)

Plus half a dozen well placed naked coughing alts could also grief the market and scare of clients... such is life.

However point taken, perhaps if we display the name of the person who put the item up for trade, while it will not lead to instant revenge it may increase random communications between players as some butthurt young apprentice trader tries to find the individual who clogged the system so he couldn't sell his 2% purity shroom rolls at 5s a piece in a sea of nameless people.

If you want to trade just use the forums or the stalls. We don't need a temporary pseudo-stall that will just be clogged with junk no one will buy any way.

I like the idea, maybe you could only post produce and yeah maybe some skill lower than mercantalism but still high enough to make alt spamming inconvenient. Diseased people happen during events but it's only a minor inconvenience.

Maybe only mayors of towns could claim a stall? Sort of analagous to the owner of a farm rather than just some guy who grows potatoes in his back yard (pclaim analogy).

perhaps if we had a safe section near town where once a month players could set out a blanket and put some items on it, maybe 5 slots or so, and other players could browse and buy, BUT, the owner has to be sitting right there at the blanket, it might inspire some social interaction between buyers and sellers. Kind of like the original everquest market where players had to park and wait for buyers. except not being afk, not even sure how to enforce that one.. possibly have a buy/sell box that both players have to click to make the sale... also makes it impossible, or at least pointless for someone (me) to charge 5k for a branch :P

how about a Farmers market once a day in a month where u can purchase special items or fruits etc..?
