Hunting = Trapper, not bored Matrial Artist

Hi there, i come here with idea for Jorb about possible change game hunting to be actually more about hunting and trapping and less about kiccking rabbits butts :D
This could make hunting real profession with player skills and knowledge required and some depth in action (like we already have in farming, and i hope we will have in mining and wood industry). At least small game hunting looks simply illogical with frontal face to face combat ... how about system of different traps and baits, requiring from player to know where and how its better to place said traps and how to mask them, what baits to use for different games.
Also professional hunter could get more stuff from dead game (not only more meat, but different organs, bones itc) that can be used in cooking, alchemy, witchcraft, even carpentry (bone glue) ...

Of couse i understand its not possible right now but i would be glad to hear from Jorb or Loftar if they like the idea and if such hunting overhaul is possible in future ? Would make hunting feel more like frontier conquering action and less repetitive and boring.
PS: i still feel ok about direct fighting vs agressive creatures of darkness and big animals like bears. I would even add more "survival" vs nature in everyday pilligrim's life  (play Dont Starve http://www.dontstarvegame.com/blog/ to see what i mean).

Im talking not about money (in this case lame gatherer is real profession too, but i would like rl salary from Seatribe for such a game expirience on constant basis :? ). Am talking about hunting being intresting in long term with its own legends and heroes, and not just one more type of grind for materials.

Yeah, i know and its good. But darkness and creatures of darkness seems to be more about "survival" part of Salem and not hunting. In simple - my question and ideas is why we have pretty complex farming and cant have same complex hunting ? Not now of couse ... but in future ;)

The problem with realistic hunting is that it involves long sessions of sitting very still and not making any noise.

Stuff like tracking and trapping would still be really nice to have, though, just don't get carried away with realism.

I do agree that I'd like to see some elements of hunting be more founded on "realism". There's plenty of things to play with. Trapping could be a neat side chain of skills all about getting animals that don't spawn normally.

Good example could be stuff like wolverine fur. Just animals we don't have right now. Certain trap/bait combinations in the correct biome would result in a catch over time. The fur could be an ingredient in inspirationals and the clothing industry.

Edit: Agreed with potjeh. It'd have to be selective elements of hunting in order to avoid the reality that real hunting makes a crappy video game.

I totally agree that Salem is a game at 1st and should be intresting and fun for a long time. And no i dont want to track 1 rabbit for 5 hours :D What i want is some depth in hunting and some not so obvious stuff...
There should be some balance and thats what we got Jorb and Loftar for

Btw brown animal trails we already have in game could be involved in this somehow ...

It would be nice if rabbit came out of rabbit holes and ran back into them, so you can trap by their hole and bait them out or chase them towards it.

Chase rabbit into rabbit hole hole, make fire outside hole, wait 10s, rabbit appears outside dazed for 5 seconds, were you can loot it like KO;d turkey. If you fail to loot the rabbit it runs off, fire insta despawns, and the chase starts over.

No combat involved, better for new players to farm / kill, as well as bringing a new kind of hunting element to the game.

So under this new system, you need fire, and branches and time to hunt rabbits.
