I know that JC is planning on adding cards to the game, BUT...
I was thinking about the idea of a possible minor change, which may or may not mesh well with the salem code.
When dice are dropped, they have the option to be hidden or visible (same menu tree as planting a potted tree or dropping it)
When hidden, the dice shows a blank face to the world (but it is already rolled, and the server knows what it is). When visible, it displays as normal.
A player may right click on a dice to give options to peek at,show the dice, or pick. Peeking will queue a system message (similar to madness etc) that will reveal the number to that player only. Showing the dice will reveal it to the world. Picking the dice will, of course, return it to their inventory.
HOWEVER:
We do currently have the ability to play dice poker in witcher style. DISCLAIMER- this is just an example of what can currently be done. Not a suggestion to incorporate witcher elements into salem. If you don't know the rules, look them up.
As a side note, and FWIW, my stance is that gambling should be completely left to chance. IE. skills / proficiencies / witchcraft should have no effect on it or atleast have the ability to create a tournament set of dice that would be purely left to chance. This way tournaments / player run events would take off. vs. just here and there because people are too afraid that the odds are weighted against them. Take for example the cursed teddy bear fear mongering. (which I'm sure JC gets a kick out of everytime he sees everyone rushing to craft new teddybears, because of the cursed teddy bear plague. Oh crap, I didn't just give him an idea did I?)
