Add reputation for forum members and posts...

We have something like that on our .pl forum, it works like this:
- any forum member can give you +1 or -1 once (and optional comment if he wants to) in your profile,
- every post can be also rated with +1 or -1 per every forum member, but also only once,

Imho it would help to stop toxic talks, of course posts in HoB should not have reputation button.
Mods would have easier job while giving punishments for posts to people with low reputation,
they would have numbers from community to support their judgment not only their personal feeling.


And we shouldn't rate posts that are older than reputation mechanic... like TM said no retrospective punishments

It wouldn't stop anything
report a post if you think its breaking a rule and mods will take care as they see fit. Community isn't here to tell the mods how to do their job and they don't make judgments with personal feelings.

True, but users opinions should matter and reputation would be great to show new players and not only who they should ignore and avoid and who can help them.

Yes, but most people think otherwise.
Try imagine case when mods ban or warning account with negative rating from community imho nobody would say then bad word to mod who do that,
from my point of view most people would think "what a great mod, he shut down this troll"

what happens when all the people in my group negs every post you make? add in the allies and its a flawed system.

We have this system and people are not abusing it, why?
Simple because if something like you said would happen our admins/mods would BAN you and your friends instantly.

so if enough people dislike a post then they get banned because they are against you. sounds to me like your mods are abusing harder then the ones here.

It is more like you are abusing logic now:)
If mods see that in forum reputation is abused by any faction they are just doing their job,
it would work here too, unless you think mods are blind and stupid and they won't notice your faction -1 rep for your in game opponents?

I did think of something like this in the past but I never brought it up because, in the end, it would just cause more drama.

Your forums are nothing like this because you are all countrymen, and not very many people. It appears to work there because you guys actually have a certain degree of respect for one another.

That is true, but I have same respect for people from different nations, I hope they can act like adults and can share same.
Imho when one person or group of people would ever try to abuse that and spam -1,
then you or any other mod would just stop them it wouldn't be harder than reading posts and giving warnings.
I know that some people would at start try to spam -1 or +1, but it can be implement in way to disallow such things...
like you can give only 5 rates per day or comment shouldn't be optional, so only those who really got something important to +1 or -1 would bother.
