Market Stall Ownership

Postby Frotted » Sat Oct 10, 2015 3:10 pm

I suggest that rent for stalls that are considered 'optimal' and/or have the highest rent be required to pay rent via profits alone. You don't sell; you can't pay rent... you lose the stall.

It will require Traders to be mindful of the population's needs and perhaps encourage competition.

People who want to keep the stall just to screw others will purchase their own items.

Yes; but they'd have to be actively doing it.

From the rumor and talk of others I get the impression that folks have just tossed down a **** load of silver they acquired via other means to hold the stalls for X weeks or months.

If they want to hold the stall they will have to be actively in game and doing it. Quite a bit different than taking a 6 week sabbatical; etc.

I get what you are suggesting and there is no total fix; and I do hate 'red tape' but some hurdles must be implemented to provide the community with a fruitful market.

Why did they bother... if it was just going to be another silver sink for the power rich?

Market is supposed to support the population... not sit idle/empty; and as it is... anyone with half an once of commen sense will contract with a forum trader vs wasting their time looking for what is obviously not for sale in Market.

BS all over...

My solution would require weekly, active participation (depending on how rent is paid- changed to weekly if necessary), and require players to sell to the populace for the things they need.

IE~ Right now I need Inspiration pots, M/M inspirations, dehydrated berries as finishers, etc... I can manage the first two...NOW... but the former I'm still short on... etc. A lot of what I see for sale is for the rare buyer... not the regular player/alt.

So instead of waiting for the 2 years of rent I have on my stalls I have to log on once a week and put more money on them? Sure?

It sucks some are empty for quite a while, but 'early bird gets the worm'. There is a ton of land I wish I got my hands on before other people, but I was too late. That's life, and the only real difference is that you can attempt to take the land, but cannot take over the stall.

Keep an eye out, that's how I got mine.. was just sitting there unattended. It is possible. There is no other fair way to do it.. taking it over because someone has money on it and left it knowing there was money on it isn't right either.

I believe the best course of action is to increase the number of stalls with the population increase and find a way to easy access all the items available...

Right except you forget that the population, instead of increasing, decreases slightly every week or so.

That and the devs already add more stall and auction them off as the population goes off.
