Hello,

id like to propose next to the System and Area Chat a channel that people join once they create a character and that they can leave by the options menu or automatically once they hit a specific set of biles etc..

on the other side here could be players with special rights ingame that get permanent access to that chat (that see players names in there) to help new players from far away (for the event theres noone in town to help them)

So you want to force people into hearing your *****? Do you really want to get the retention ratio of players lower? I think this is against the salem spirit of discover the game and features by yourself(imagine being spoiled about everything without the chance of testing and interact with the world yourself) in case you need help you have the forum or wiki. This could go really bad if a griefer enter that chat with an alt and lure the noobs to be scammed/murdered plus it will give the "members with permanet access" an unfair political advantage coz they could start recruiting everynew player in salem and forge a faction with those slaves.

1) its not about having everything spoiled its about helping them with minor problems
2) you could set it so the communicatio is only noob <-> helper, but not noobs <-> helper so the noobs cant see or talk to each other.
3) you would ofcourse recruit competent people at helper wh odont recruit ppl, also only retarded people would recruit new players into there towns since you talked about it... griefers.. + 50% of all new characters is darwoth.

-1 bad idea.

Sounds like it would turn into a ***** of people **** talking each other, and would require chat mods to keep the piece, which would add another layer of work for the mods.

Even if it turned out to be as useful as, say the Wurm Online 'CA Help' channels, it would take the exploration and discovery out of the game..

Dont get me wrong, i love helping people, ive spent a bit of my time adding to the Wiki before it disappeared, but a help channel would not be the best way to help newbies.

This would turn out not to be what you wanted and end up terrible along with the home city being more dead.

Heff i give You advice.

Find some chat page (mIRC page) set channel and ask it to pin topic with url to page with chat at Help Board section.

Ask few players to help maintain this chat with You. Always at that page You can add special options that will be very helpful.
1. Add nick_nation (Gargamel_UG) so new player can find anyone native.
2. You can kick, ban etc (think about 13 years old kids who loves movies with a Johny Deep to much and option IP ban will show in Your head automatically).

There was so called "global chat" in custom clients in HnH, which was connected to irc channel and could be turned off, it existed mostly for noobs to ask questions and to find friends and for old players to chat with random people when they were bored. I guess you could discuss similar thing with salem clients' authors or create it yourself, this way both, people who would like help of that sort, and the ones who hate the idea would be happy.

Help chat won't work unless it's moderated 24/7.
Otherwise it would turn into another ***** channel
