Hy there!

It would be nice that there will be some bags or baskets, thats have a weight based inventory just like your character.

At this point the reed basket is quite unusable, so if you replace the inventory for example to can hold 2.5kg stuff, more likely the people will use them.

*UPDATE*
Maybe you can place objects what actually have weight, so you cannot store seeds there.

My idea:

Reed basket - same recipe - 2.5kg capacity
Bark basket - 15 bark fibre - 5kg capacity
Leather bag - 4 leather 2 fibre 1 raggy hem - 10kg capacity
Cotton cloth bag - 5 cloth - 2 f1bre 1 enforced seam - 15kg capacity
Egyptian cotton cloth bag - 5 egyiptian cotton cloth - 2 fibre - 1 Amber Coarse-Grain Thread - 20 kg capacity
Personal bag - 5 see island cotton cloth - 2 fibre - 1 Embroidery - 25kg capacity - can be locked with a lock, but easy to destroy.

Theese stuffs not well considered, but with adjustment can be works.
Open for discussion :)

Too breakable. This can let me store thousands and thousands of seed piles for the cost of 4 reeds, or similarly insane numbers of other super light objects like wood chips or drone bees.

Maybe you cannot put seeds in thier inventory, just stuffs actualy have weight. But holding grass or woodchopping in high number isnt would a problem i think.

Also beside the weigh limit there will be an item number limit too. For example, a reed basket can hold maximum 50 item.

I like the concept, but like others have pointed out, it would destroy the entire weight system as we know it.

Changing the storage system sounds more like a quality of life improvement, and we all know how much JC hates giving us nice things.. not to mention the horror of having to rebalance the entire weight system..

making storage item based on weight sounds like you have magical chest that can expand in the universe, or youd be going oh damn, my reed basket can only hold 1 steel ball, yet i can put about 10 000 seed,

instead of weight containers, how bout limiting them with a volume?

That's exactly how we're doing it now. I think we'll continue to do so.

"Realistically" some containers would never be appropriate for some objects because their physical properties would not support the weight of some things in them. A crummy little basket probably isn't going to be the best container for 100 kilos of metal or ore. But I think volume works fine for us. This isn't the most realistic game, obviously. Everyone and their mother can do folksy magic/charms that isn't really witchraft per-se because it's not evil, and brew up potions. People can make magical torchposts that burn evil doers and use bee products in a magical fashion to make animals HUUUGE. (I would argue that doing that with Giant Bats should qualify as a crime of some sort, it's inherently anti-social, but whatever. Maybe not summonable? You can punch someone in the mouth and it's not summonable, and the "worst" making an area "Bat Country" will do is KO someone, which isn't worse than beating them like a rented mule and knocking them out. Well, not much worse. Bats are annoying little bastards.)

As i said there is no way to store seeds there, its too exploitable.

I only want store my autumn grasses and wood choppings in bigger numbers:D
