i think it would be nice idea to find more wild animals and have a chance to make them domestique ,and not need to buy because it's stupid ,and the most interesting would be to fight with a wild animals(better wild animals needs higher humors ) and kod it and after if you have high skill flora and fauna you are getting higher chance to make this wild animal - domestique,and after you can take a rope and bring it to home ,it will be more dangerous way because small map ,you can meet everyone .

That's really more interesting than buying animals from nps when everyone can just put 100 alts near and make you loose all money ,this idea makes you to play in a wild world but not like all this time just grinding silver to get ***** animals .Dev's need to make something interesting with it,because i just noticed you need just a bit high skill fauna to keep cows ,and that's all ?everyone can buy animals and that's making me sad because as always this part is going to be pay to win

i can't just agree and see how dev;s made this way with animals ,it's boring and sometimes i think it was taking just 5 min for them to do this

Selling animals is realistic. This is the New World. Pigs, sheep, cows, and horses were all brought here from Europe and if an immigrant wanted one for themselves, they'd need to buy it from an importer or from someone who already had one. We have wild Turkeys that you can find and domesticate because turkeys are native. We have no plans to change that. I really don't see how you can call this 'pay to win' since there are no animals for sale in the store, and even if you buy store silver, you still need to learn the skills in game yourself.

it's not realistic ,its just another way to keep grinding silver .i'm not telling about store ,i'm telling to make new ways how to get animals,i thought it 's a crafting sandbox but not a STORE Game where again you need to pay silver

Well, idea is nice and while i agree, that all domestic animals was transported from Old World, maybe we can get some weird mythical animals domesticated. Like make Furfur mount, if you are able to tame it somehow. Or nice'n'fluffy March Hare rabbits breading in your barn. Breeding this animals will drive you insane, but will be tempting to try

Many core items in Salem were never obtainable the way, different from NPC stall, Game Store, or from other playes. It always been so - remember radish, glass, corn, onion, fruit trees etc.

salem was always crafting mmo and what is mean you need to find something and craft with own hands ,but you say about redish ,onions it is game procces called recipes,cooking where you need to use it always and there not just one recipe where you can use it ,there are many recipes and this is easy to say ''pay to play'' ,same with corn IT is game procces and why should i pay rl money to use it ?or how you can call Popham a competition if really easy to understand who paid irl money will be at first places,easy to say who can be winner ,because you bought everything for very fast start while other people who didn't pay any rl money just starting ,this is not a competition ,this is not craft mmo ,this is ''pay to win '' game

Well, you forgot that even on Providence first corn and roses were acquired from pack.

Salem isn't a single player game. Have you considered to to trade with other players or to raid someone in order to acquire those goods? I got almost everything (corn, pumkin, bellpepper, store tools) my group was needed by eliminating other group in first week, that was cheap.
And before we do that, we had several tools on Popham, which we actually bought on Providence for tripple cost.

While buying them seems to be more historical, taming would be more fun. Make this activity one of the "really late" activities, like the needed skill is learned after all the keeping skills, and you'll need to do something special, not just KO them - like lure, capture and feed or whatever...

I think the issue is more the price than anything. Even at it's most gouge-y rate historically, it was like, 3 times less expensive than what we have?

We pay what are basically mining camp prices for cows. Although we have a smallish market compared to real ones, and other dynamics, and game balance to consider, so it evens out, some.

I think people also feel unjustly bitter about how "hard" it is because the knowledge base for using them correctly is not widely disseminated. One common sense thing is you should not buy young animals in a cold snap, you should try and get them to mature in Everbloom, when you don't have to worry about them randomly dying. You should also obviously stock medicines BEFORE you even get them,and check on them regularly, or have someone do that for you in a village.

There might also be some bugs, but some amount of trouble I almost think is "intended" stuff of various kinds.

Ive never had a young one die. ..only adults. Every single one that freakin died showed no signs within 2 hours of death. We had 4 people logging in checking through the day. Cures standing by. Food full. ..ok one we think was killed because of male male aggression (funny as hell, just expensive). No other pairs were same sex or cross species as adults.

I grinded out the silver(or won them in events) for those animals, just to have them die for buggy ass reasons. This isn't beta. ..bugs should be comped to the players. .regardless of Salems harsh view on helping players learn new mechanics. But apparently sudden deaths cause by bugs only cover those who spent money on silver in those pets. Considering the evening is not as strong as providence, yes the animals ARE expensive. Sex of the animal is random chance, so an additional cost built in.

I think i have a decent grasp of the animal system. ..I'm sure someone will disagree. But i can totally intended how the animal system is a major pain in the ass versus return. Alot of silver then sit around and CONSTANTLY check because apparently they can get sick and DIE while you are out for a couple hours.

Trees might not take root. ..boards might be moldy, crops might get cursed...but unless you pumped a ton of OPTICAL crown manure in them you didn't lose 1000s of silver AND weeks of work. Every animal offers that for an extra food group and maybe some milk or wool lol.

Only upside. .I'm almost at a sheep skin cloak...who wants to bet that 5000s piece of crap had 2 slots? Lol


Oops I guess i ranted a bit. Animals should be attainable outside the shop. Because they take so much larger an investment than any other system already (resources for barn, inspiration for vet skills). Compare radishes to animals? You can triple your investment in potables in a couple days. .animals take weeks to see if you can even have a CHANCE to breed them. Even finding them in the wild, them would be a pain in the ass to raise, breed and care for.

Just my 2c....ok maybe that's my $2 worth.
