Minted gold coins / Wandering merchant

I have always like the idea of being able to make gold bars into 10 gold coins.
You will be able to sell 1 gold coin to the stall for 100 silver (bars 1000s)
These gold coins will have value to players (1 gold coin will basically be worth 100s Minimum)
Players can melt down 12 gold coins back into a gold bar.
Silver will always have its place, but i feel it really is time to have a higher valued coin, i would like being able to trade someone 100 gold coins and not 10,000 silver.
Gold coins can only be obtained by player crafting, gold minting will be required. A Coin press will be required not just a cruicable. (whole new endgame skill set + unique other items)

Just like all animals i feel that we should have some kind of wandering merchants that randomly spawn, you cannot attack / kill them, they cannot move, once they are spawned / generated they stay for 5 min only then despawn. The chances for one to spawn will be very very very very slim so people can run the risk of carrying large amounts of silver/gold coins out in the wilderness and be rewarded/disapointed if they find a wandering merchant.

The merchants goods could range from very poor worthless cheap items to foraged inspritionals depending on the biome he spawns in to town charters. Each time he spawns he could give a little story and you may even need to pay a small fee to even view his goods.

Always loved the idea of a wandering merchant in salem, i feel it would really fit the game. Could potentionally have different kinds of merchants, some willing to sell a horse etc depending on the merchants situation.

Not sure I understand the gold coin idea, although I am not against gold coins it would be cool to have a currency whose rate fluctuates bitcoin like but I'm not sure your breaks into 10 requires 12 would facilitate that. Perhaps you could elaborate?

I like the merchant idea. I love the idea of people seeing a red dot on their minimap and having a reason to check it out rather than run away.

Gold coins main creation would be for trading with the wondering merchant, however they would still always have a silver value of 100-120s each.

As mentioned above it would add a new layer of currency to the game as well, so instead of myself needing to withdraw 32,500s in either 500s stacks, or filling multipul purses then compounding them into one, i could just withdraw 325 gold coins and get the same transaction cash sorted alot faster.

The wandering merchant should be kill/lootable since he wandered out of the safe zones.

I like the idea of wandering merchants being other players instead of NPC's.

Would only ever work/happen if you removed teleportation.

A wandering unkillable merchant can add a whole new level of rpg rather than sandbox. People would be looking for him actively and he could change location between landmarks every week or so. I really think it could be interesting if he sells/buys important stuff for good prices, he could also change them depending on the week of the month. And it also adds more risk and excitement to the game

And then we have to keep the gold coin production high enough for them to be relevant, every time you change it to silver it disappear.

The reason they would stay revelent would be to exchange them with the wandering merchant.

The 2 suggestions go together with each other.

To the person reciving the gold coins as payment it makes no difference, they could either save them as currency, collect them for exchanging with the merchant, turn them into silver or change 12 back into a gold bar for a different use.

The reason i suggested 12 was because the blackmarket price for gold bars is 1200s

The peoplpe who make them would do so for 2 reasons, easier transactions with currency or to use as payment to the wandering merchant.

I really like the idea but I don't think it would work well with the game. Silver is already volatile as it is. With this system in the end it still comes down to silver.

The merchant would be interesting, I would love to have a actual player do this. Would be so much fun to have a wagon and ford rivers traveling around selling stuff. Removing teleports to boston would be the only way it might work sadly.

I think the seasonal stall needs to be updated more instead of another npc moving around. it seems like its more of a hassle to deal with than anything else.
