Fencing improvements

Tbh the fencing in this game is a bit too simple, so here's what i propose.
2 new attacks, Chop and Slash, and a new skill.

Chop:

It would do around 30% less damage than thrust, but give 2 points of bleed bar (About 10 blood from bleed) and imbalance the opponent much more than regular attacks.
The player swings his sword at the enemy somewhere around neck level.

Slash:

Has an AoE like this:
Image
(If it's even possible to make an AoE like that for Salem.)
If the opponent is suffering heavily from imbalance and reel a low slash to the legs will break his bones (only if the reel/imbalance bar is almost topped up)
HOWEVER, the slash does 60% less damage than thrust, and in case the opponents imbalance/reel is not high enough you just increase your own reel/imbalance a lot.

New skill: Master Fencer - Requires 10k C&D, 7.5k S&E and 3k Perennial Philosphy (Unlocks the two moves above)

I hope you like my idea.
:D :) ;) :? :P

I do like that idea however parrying each of those attacks should do something different. Parrying a Chop would do a quick counterattack doing the equivalent of a double chop to the attacker for example.

AE attacks should remain the realm of the halberd, giving them to what is already the best weapon in the game would be retarded without significant rebalance to the others.

From what I've understood it's a much smaller AOE and it could be parried. I would also suggest that this AOE would only be used to make it easier to hit and would only damage one person in front of you if there are more than one (the closest to the center or something).

you are missing the point, the sword is by far the stongest weapon in the game and it is the only one that can be wielded WITH a secondary weapon in the offhand thus granting an extra set of abilities when using one, does not matter how small the AE is or how "weak" ( ) the bleed is the point is every other weapon type is already pathetic in comparison so ANYTHING "extra" given to the sword will just make matters worse.

furthermore giving an AE of any kind to the sword is retarded, the reason the swing animations along with the damage were increased was so that it had to be used skillfully and with precision which a cone attack completely defeats the purpose of.

These are fairly good arguments.
How about i change this so that you can only use chop and sweep with a "Longsword" (2-handed weapon) With which you do less thrust damage than with a sabre but can do these 2 attacks.
That seems pretty balanced to me.

I'm not an expert in PvP but from what I've seen most people fight using their fists and feet in the Dockclub. There are actually few people that seem to use a sword in those fights. I guess Dockclub is not a reference for PvP but well...
And what kind of secondary weapon are you talking about? I'm quite confused on what other weapons there is in game except for the Halberd and the Rifle. Oh wait there is the Pistol too my bad. And the Slingshot but that one is so pathetic that I do not consider it a weapon. More of an aggro mechanic than anything ¦] .
You do have the advantage of being able to drink tea and such but if your opponent gives you enough breathing space for you to drink tea then that's his problem.
However I do agree that any buffs given to the sword should come after buffing the Halberd and perhaps the guns (it's currently very hard to hit anything moving with it, especially a player if he knows he is being targeted).

dock club is not pvp, it is a clownshow of retards ***** a doorknob in an enclosed space (which of late gets shrunk further as it progresses) where the constant stomps, clubs and jabs of 40 people make it difficult to use a sword and most of the participants do not have the ability to properly use said swords as it is thus they rely on the AE and faster attacks hoping to capitalize on imbalance, which was pretty much my entire point i previously mentioned. any one of those punch/club spammers you reference would be dead in about 30 seconds in the field against a moderately competitive sword guy.

as for secondaries any one handed range weapon and its relevant advantages, until fairly recently you could also use a club in the offhand.

sure, but then you might as well just add it to the halberd weapon type instead and ask for a new halberd or two with a large sword graphic =P
