GoiNative!

Well, we have witchcraft ( not that i know anything about it ) but what about if a pilgrim wants to adopt the ways of mother nature and the ancient tribes of this land ?

A new branch of skills could derive and enrich the world of Salem !

A pilgrim adopting the ways of the old could have some extra foraging hunting and exploring skills but probably lacking the advanced knowledge of mechanics and complicated structures.
(The stuff that are now indian orianted, like headdresses, pemican etc could be exclusive to the people who have chosen to turn native.)

He/she could have access to different kinds of potions and food recipes, clothing-crafting and anything else that could promote diversity and trade between the community.

Now imagine being a witch AND native :D , something like the tribe wise man, with unique spells and charms, ( even for the animals ) .

Natives would have tipis instead of leantos

also if possible different textures in more advanced housing.

They could also build their own totems of gods and worship them accordingly, with rituals and dancing around the fire :P

Anyway, this could have huge possibilities I believe so please discuss and expand the concept

If done wrong it could be disastrous.

Personally I don't like the fact that Natives would be restricted in their knowledge of mechanics. Witches can do anything a Pilgrim can and more. In exchange they leave scents and are hurt by the light. Natives should have similar restrictions.

I'm going to be that guy here... Yes I agree there should be more Natively inspired things in this game, but at the same time it is a thin line. With Pilgrims there really isn't anyone to offend, but Indians aren't like extinct of anything, and with the Indians of New England there is still some resentment about how things went down and the somewhat white-washed version of it that gets told. Perhaps Salem will never be game that appeals to them, and +1 for elements of your idea, but at the same time I advocate caution.

I see what you are saying but I do not see how it could be offensive to native americans, ( I am from Europe though so I may be missing something  )

Calling them "Indians" is perhaps not the best start.

I've gone back and forth on this too, from those I've talked to and what I've read when you cannot refer to a specific tribe Indians seems to be preferred over Native Americans.

Mostly just cautioning, not pointing out anything wrong. However tipi's for instance were a plains innovation, and longhouses were used in New England, but this game has already said it's okay with tipi's so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

This bad idea has already been suggested many times.
