Salem Character Traits

When ever a new character is created it has one special trait.

This trait gives the character a special ability such as a "backflip" emote if the character has the trait "natural acrobat".

This gives raise to moments where players who want fireworks for an example have to find players with the trait that allows them to make fireworks.

Your trait would be ***** sucking, because just like you, this idea blows.

That's a bit harsh, don't you think?

We've already toyed with the idea of some characters being different from others.

Any traits a character has should be earned in game. If you want something to make it so that there is more variance between characters create a system similar to Haven's person beliefs.

Personal beliefs were terrible. Having a unknown perk would be interesting. Having a unknown disability would also be interesting part of your character.

Like the "rogue knight" system: every time you inherit you have a chance of bad traits like being gay, albino, etc...
I favor more races with diversity.
But give them equal chances lategame.

The system had problems but the idea that there were traits you could work towards is a fine idea.

You'd have to make the traits manifest after a bit of effort was invested, else people would spam alts and keep desireable combos, much like I do in RPGs that let me roll for char stats :P

And this is why the previous idea has its faults, i don't just go hey lets bash this post for no reason, it's just we dont need some exploitable thing where everyone just nitpicks at alts until they find a desirable one with good "perks" if this was really given consideration, have it so learning one "special skill" locks you out of others like a mastery type system, i'm not saying thats a great idea either, but it would at least take effort to some extent to get the desired character traits.
