More advertisment

Hello,
This is super cool game, I started yesterday and i'm already in love with it, got lots stuff to do and the perma death is the best thing about it, but it has a little problem... There is not enough players, there must be a little more than that.. I was watching old videos on youtube with full towns of people and it was looking awesome but now it's empty.. My suggestion is that you guys need to work more on advertisement contact people like mmohuts.com mmobomb.com and other websites to make a video about it. The second problem is that new players hardly can play this when sometimes you can't know stuff except someone tells you how to for example like joining other players houses by entering and pressing enter and not "okey" button. SO YEAH ! This game is awesome but it needs to be like in 2011-2012 when it had lots of players :)

ANOTHER SUGGESTION:
MAKE EASIER TO GET TO FRIENDS HOUSE WITHOUT PAYING FOR SCROLL AND COLLECTING STONE AND LEVELING SKILLS TO JUST INVITE FRIEND OVER TO JOIN LITTLE TOWN CONSTRUCTION ! :)

Please look at the server stats. The game has the most number of players since acquisition.

We are no advertising the game until it is finished.

The videos you've seen probably were recorded when Salem was having an event. I assure you, when we have an event now, it is much more crowded than in most of those videos. The map is just very large and most players spend most of their time on their own claims, not in Providence town; so you're not going to see many of them, but they are there.

sure would be nice if we could see the real numbers like we could for the first 2.5 years of the game when they were not being covered up and distorted with *****.

in any case i am sure one could just piggyback along with a repurposed commercial for world of warcraft or another themepark game designed for 11 year olds since that is the direction the game is taking.

This^ I don't trust the numbers showing on status at all.

Well it's too obvious why it was altered.

Well, I can assure you they are precisely as accurate as the previous simultaneous-user numbers, and that they are collected using reasonable definitions, if those were the things you were worried about.

Don't know about Dallane concerns, but what I am worried about is that those numbers show exactly same low online as it used to be, if you would take into account timezones, average daily game session length and alts or IP changes (depending on how that works).

We appreciate your worry, but it's unfounded. If I was at a table with the creators of another MMO, I would be more inclined to ask "How many players are playing your game per day?" rather than "How many players play your game in a given and arbitrary instant in time?" Players per day is significant in a variety of ways. Players in a given moment is only valuable as data tracked to figure out peak hours or possibly server load, neither of which are intended to be reflected in gameplay or play style.

As a player I am interested in both, becuase in the past I already had "getting bored and quitting because of lack of communication and competition" experience. It's nice to know if there are more than 50 players on the huge map this exact moment to figure out if running a shop worth it, or is there a point in building a camp for newbies, or what chances do I have in meeting someone. Current numbers can be tricky to compare with old server activity, so why not show both? It's not like extra line on server status page takes too much of resources, is it?
