New Ammo for Slingshots

Postby connersalem » Wed Sep 24, 2014 3:50 am

I have been experimenting with the slingshot a lot, and have found that it is very helpful for low level combat. I have also been collecting countless amounts of bone, and have been collecting countless amounts of rocks.

The Idea I have thought of is a way of turning bones into an ammo. Maybe you use an axe a bust open the bone and it gives you 2-3 bone bits that can be used for ammo. These bone bits, due to the less amount of mass they would have in a real life setting, they could do less damage than a regular rock, or they could be slightly less accurate.

I don't know if it is just me, but it seems that bones don't have much use, at least at a lower level. (Which is where the slingshot is mostly useful) This would allow for a more balanced use of items.

yeah rocks are to rare and hard to come by to be used as slingshot ammo, bones that are used in various food or item recipes are the clear choice.

Darwoth, as you have not been in an early game position for a long while from what I understand I know it is pretty hard for you to wrap your mind around. All I'm saying is, it would add some variety, and it would be helpful in early game.

Maybe because bones typically are not used for shot. Doesn't make any sense.

Are you really having that hard of a time finding rocks?

^This! See instead of completely leveling a person's base, what if you could say shatter the glass in the cupboards, use sledge hammers or something to damage ovens, stoves, kilns, etc (repair with wood, brick/stone, clay respectively)? Say if a container is damaged you cannot access the stuff inside until fixed. If a structure like kiln is damaged, you cannot use it until fixed. Sounds fun.

Didn't realize I was... sorry. Just liked his idea and my mind went with it. Then I realized it would be better in the PvP thread so I posted it there.

What If he lives on an island far away in the ocean that has a ton of wildlife but no stone. Bone fences, bone houses, bone axe handles, bone flagpoles, bone halberds, bone armour, bone paving(for that awesome crunching sound when you walk on the bones of your fallen enemies).

Man, we need more things made out of bone.
