The character creation in this game is confusing, unappealing, and poorly designed. We shouldn't create our character in-game, but rather in a character creation screen before we get into the game, like every other game out there except for Haven & Hearth. Games do this to keep character creation simple and organized, by not doing that you're just showing that the game is unpolished. The first time I saw Haven & Hearth's character creation, I quit because after seeing how bad their character creation was, I could only imaging how bad the game was. However, after a few weeks I gave it another try, but still hated the character creation processes.

I don't see what part of it might have been confusing to you or think it needs to be done in some little screen rather than before getting on the boat, but I would like it to be improved so we have some more options etc.

That being said, yes character creation could be nicer and I'm open to some suggestions on how that could be. On the test server it players a nice little melody. What else can be done?

John, I don't know if this is possible at all, but would some voice acting be possible? So it talks you through the starting area. This would be nice for many different reasons.
1.Seems more professional
2.Easier to comprehend
3.Make it less "confusing, unappealing, and poorly designed"

Yes, it most likely could. Will investigate.

If their is one place where some voice acting (very cheap voice actin mind you) would be worth it is in the tutorial portions of the game both at character creation and in the future 'newbie island', virtually ever major game system should be verbally explained with an interactive walk-through.

imo my opinion

creation of character:
a new system to customize your starter character like gender/hair etc... currently its clicking on a guy at the docks and you get a random one each time you click him.

tutorial:
should tell you all the ways you can die or get unconsciousness ingame
teach you the controls/shortcuts
how to erect buildings or produce stuff

the character creation system was the first thing that i saw in haven and what drew me into it and i am glad it is in salem also.

i have played lots of small games that nobody ever heard of. they all have character creation like you specified, and they were all cookie cutter games. havens character creation system was the first hint that the game was "different" and worth a closer look.

between this and your desire to have the game be flat i think you should just go eat a handful of **** the next time you want to open your mouth instead of annoy everyone with your worthless suggestions.

I love the char creation. There is nothing difficult in it at all

agreed. and voice acting would be so stupid.

there's no need to change it, it's perfect as it is. although a nice melody playing would be nice. i miss that cute song that plays on haven & hearth when you walk inside a house.
