menu should not go to root each time

i think it would be better to stay to the sub-menu even after u select a choice, for this would make multi crafting easier , you can place a little button to go to root menu,



anyhow, I would personally prefer a different UI for menu , there are so many items and categories now ( witch is awesome of course )

On a related note, when certain skills or things like being a member in a town open up new high level menu options the new options should NOT move around other stuff. All buttons should have their dedicated locations and would just be greyed out if un-available. This is how StarCraft did it and your basically using their menu style so go all the way and copy that behavior as well. If you don't want individual recipes to appear then you could make an exception at that bottom most level of the menu structure but keep everything else above it consistent. Yes I know you will have to move things from time to time like with the last update but we can adapt to that.
