Get rid of item tracking

Because frankly, is anyone really using it to find an item that has been stolen from him? Instead, this mechanic is used mostly as GPS trackers in situations where no actual theft has been committed.
Is this mechanic needed or good for the game? If not, then just scrap it.

I dedicate this suggestion to Darwoth.

Did I miss some drama? Or is dedicating suggestions a thing now?

And yes we will be visiting item tracking in the PVP rework.

Item tracking was useful enough and not really abused in H&H, but when the game went to centralized trading it became totally exploitable as a means of finding a hidden base. Short of removing it all together I can see only a few means of stopping the exploit.

* Hot items can't be brought to Boston by fast travel period
* Hot items are visibly flagged as Hot for all to see, but otherwise unrestricted
* Items cease to be Hot when taken out of Boston by fast travel (which just means everyone will strip the items and theirs no point to tracking them other then to catch the most idiotic of thieves)

This bad idea would give me the chance to get rid of my 3 scent clearing alts.
Idk whats the point of it all when i can put it on a 5555 alt and wait for the scent to disseapear.

People think scented items are way too scary than they actually are. Tracking down a person via scented goods is a total pain in the ass and most people just don't bother to do it so.

If it hurts trade(due to stealing from yourself) and tracking the item doesn't get used often then whats the point of having it in the game.

I don't really see the point of this feature.

The "stolen item" status can't be used against the owner aside from magical tracking. The devs have already stated being hidden should not (and won't) be a viable defense anyway.

I agree with this suggestion, it should either be removed completely or be changed.
If changed, I think it should just be visible if the item is stolen and possession should be a crime on it's own. (Above trespassing, below larceny.)
