Moving and carrying braziers around

So, since people were actually interested in this, I thought that it'd be nice to open a thread here and discuss it instead of carrying it in the announcements.

JohnCarver wrote:*Brazier Range is getting nerfed down to 11 Tile Radius

Plan, fortify, and defend your bases before the patch accordingly. Wall soak will also be going up. Torch posts will be the longer-radius tower option of the future.

Why not let us to move these braziers? You have to understand how much frustration this patch will bring without such option.

JohnCarver wrote:Because Raiders will pick up and move your braziers instead of killing them then.

MagicManICT wrote:This would/could be the deterrent to raiders carrying braziers. Raider keeps getting hit by the brazier, maybe even for more to the point destroying would be better. Just tossing it out there. After all, we are talking about a burning pot. Sure, you got insulation, but can anything dating from that period really insulate against 500-600+ degrees? (Probably more like 1100-1200 as a charcoal fire can be pushed hot enough to melt lead and copper and forge iron.)

Feone wrote:Yea picking up a lit brazier seems like a terrible idea.
Oh this burning thing is hurting me, gimme a hug burning thing!

Being able to move braziers does make some sense, if implemented it should be a waste crime though. It should probably also be really, really slow and impossible if they are lit. (If an enemy picks one up it'd catch fire causing it to be dropped immediately.)
Not sure if it would have other implications other than making base design slightly more forgiving.

So far from what I read... I think what would be nice is that we could carry braziers on a town claim, but not if it's lit. And honestly if it's not lit when a raider is coming inside well, braziers or not it wouldn't have changed anything.

Guiiiise, you're disrupting the creative process with all these ideaaaas. Wait wait, no, i mean

It's a great idea :) It would be a lot nicer for base planning and more realistic, unless they're grounded xD looks like they're on tripods to me though.

Break into the area with braziers, leave and wait for the braziers to turn off, comeback, pick it up, walk off with it.
You could make it activate like Feone said but there are still problems.
With the current system this would let raider move disabled braziers to nerf active ones.

Problem 1: Braziers get taken into structures, mines, houses, and/or things that were not anticipated to have them.

Problem 2: Players make walls out of braziers they can then later 'open' by moving them.

Problem 3: Raiders wait for Braziers to turn off and move them as the first crime.

Problem 4: Players move all their braziers to the side of the base under attack.

Problem 5: Braziers either do or do not fire when you are carrying them... its a problem either way IMO.

Problem 6: Raiders carry braziers to river and log out to delete braziers, instead of destroying through their soak.

Problem 7: Raiders cart off your braziers to far away place after disabling instead of killing them.

Problem 8: Braziers can be hidden on sleds, carts, etc. to give an inaccurate perspective of base defenses.

Problem 9: Braziers move but Torchposts don't? Do Torchposts need more reasons not to build them?

Problem 10: Braziers might be placed in awkward positions to block somebody who can then not lift it if it activates (offensive or defensive).

Now I also have 10 solutions to fix all those problems. So don't waste your time figuring out how to fix it. It just boils down to me not wanting to rework an entire system and spend what amounts to a week of dev time redefining all the what-if scenarios to allow statis defenses to do something I don't want them to do.

Ultimately the no-soak for pclaim owner thing might sort out base redesign.

Still you have to admit that :

would've been funny to see. Get raided and all they take is your defenses xD

Or you could simply keep their range as it is so people wouldn't have to completely redesign their defences.

Keeping the range of the Brazier at the overpowered distanced it has would require them to hit substantially less than I think most people would enjoy. You would then be redesigning your base anyway for the fact that your braziers are the effective damage of a mosquito. Smaller ranges seemed a more reasonable way to allow braziers to have more moderate damage.
