Strips....

Postby Rele » Thu Aug 28, 2014 1:39 am

Hey pilgrims!

Because of the new the patch, you can no longer spawn in "Cloth Alts" to get tons of rags. So I was thinking and I looked around my storage area and saw I had tons of furs. Now today I was thinking that maybe there could be a new crafting option that could turn hides into strips of fur which could be used as any string, and maybe to go along with the primitive club, A loincloth! :D You could even use the fur straps to the crafting option for backpack, or a new kind of purse's (Not like the coin purses) to add some extra inventory space.

Thanks for your responses :)

the easiest way to rags I found was cotton shirts (5 pieces of cotton) which turns into 2 rags. For those recipes where you actually need rags (e.g. the rag doll).

Wait, we have "any string" in salem? That sounds like some other game I know :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Really? o.O Cause jute pants rag just fine and that's only 6 string rather than 5 cotton. I personally go on a snake hunt every so often for the sole purpose of drying snake skins on all my racks, spamming belts and ragging those :D

Why shouldn't we be able to directly craft rags again?

As for me, I would like a cloth crafting system that is a bit more intuitive (boring too you might argue but... meh).

[! WARNING ! UO nostalgia mode ON]

Fiber
Milkweed Jute
Birchbark Fiber
Sinews
Cotton
Whool
Silk

Thread (use a spinning wheel)
Jute Thread
Birchbark rope (just a regular rope, can't use birchbark for cloth)
Sinew rope (see birchbark)
Cotton Thread
Whool Thread
Silk Thread

Cloth
Jute Cloth
Cotton Cloth
Whool Cloth
Silk Cloth

Rags
Cut any cloth into 2 or more rags, needs scissors to do a good job.

Roll
Sew any 8-10 cloth of the same type into a roll of cloth for storage.
You have a chance of damaging a piece of cloth (getting rags instead) when cutting them back.

Also, think about Gold Thread...
I was lucky...
