The tracks

Postby Zibens » Thu Jul 24, 2014 12:26 pm

Hellow fellow new world's habitants.

We've seen there are many criminals sailed from the old world. The suggestion is about, as long as you have the track window open, In top you could have ETA / Time untill you arive there, that would be really helpful, because you would know, how long would you need to move to the place, and decide if it's worth it. It would be calculated by your current movement speed, WITHOUT any obstacles. Which pretty much means direct straight line, from your current position.

I disagree with this. It would make it too easy to pinpoint locations regardless of distance.

Take the exact direction the arrow is pointing at, use the counter to get the direct distance and you have a nice accurate location on your map of w/e you're tracking.
You can then move to the approximate area, grab a new scent and go. It makes it vastly easier to track players across long distances.

I agree with this, too exploitable...

It could however give a very approximate indication like:

"The scent is very fresh"
the offender is within a couple of screens
"The scent is fresh"
the offender is within x minute march
"The scent is somewhat faint"
the offender is within a 1 hour march
"The scent is very faint"
the offender is within x hours march

But then again... is the distance so important? What about time passed?

If it was an indication of the age of the crime it would also very roughly double as an indication of distance (provided the offender started moving right after, and never stopped...)
I was lucky...

Having it show the age of the scent itself would be nice.
