terraforming

This is something that's probably been answered 1000 times over again but I will ask again so that I may know....

can or will the land by the water be altered instead of always saying not enough clearance (talking about that cliff that's right beside water that you can never flatten)

oh ya and can the chest be changed slightly so it can be placed closer to the walls???? same with bushes and trees make them so they can be next to a wall

It has been proposed in the past and in different flavors... someone wished they could dig canals, others wanted to enclose a section of a lake...

I believe the main problem with that kind of terraforming (if it isn't just unlikely to come by because of technical limitations...) is that it would allow people to do every kind of stupid things with rivers and lakes (like building a strip of land across a river for example).

It may well be that the collision box for the chest is that big to make it harder to place... base planning is intended as a "minigame" of sorts.

The hitbox should be easily tweaked if you can get the devs to do it.

Water is currently mostly impossible (for the same reason bridges etc are) because there isn't really any functional vertical dimension to the world.

I reckon code-wise it might be possible to turn random tiles shallow water by performing some action (like emptying a barrel on it). However, adding any sort of realistic flow mechanics would be extremely difficult & time consuming. It would probably also cause gameplay issues such as unsiegable islands.

Chest has a large hitbox so the lid doesn't collide with anything when you open it.

They are that way to prevent tree walls.

So?
Just move the trees a tile or 2 away from the wall, no reason not to anyway.

It's not just walls. Trees and bushes were coded to not be able to be planted next to anything, including other trees and bushes, because people kept planting rows of them around their bases to use as walls. I think it was part of the reset patch.

Making them anyways was a pain in the ass, good riddance.

If tree walls were still in the game for any reason, we would be adding a way to light them on fire and burn them to the ground. So be thankful seatribe saved you from our solution lol.

We are thinking that it would be cool, given their difficult, to build thornbush walls though.
