due to the nature of the game, with all the alts (whether or not intended by the devs), in-game chat is only annoying.
Remembering all the names / alt names and who is speaking, losing history across character switches, etc... I definitely prefer skype/discord options.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

@Dallane, little comment about Game Maker and Unity3D/2D

Ok, Game Maker is framework for made games 2D... I never use this app.
However, made cool system isn't easy but isn't "something is hard to implement" - normal
but
Unity3D/2D isn't Game Maker app - is ENGINE 3D (now 2D too), so be quiet poor person...
because created games for use Unity3D isnt bad games https://unity3d.com/showcase/gallery
support and community grows, someone pathetic people with grows unity have the "impression" is APP game maker - but, no... is ENGINE what have BIG community for other graphic and programers (scripts)

and the argument showed me that you are not a credible person @Dallane,
i have title for that "fake-person" if you programmer name is "fake-programmer"

I hate for use the words "something is hard to implement"
I got tired of fake-programmers ... >_>

i need better budy list, for group and other method...

but i wait for viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16658

Tailoring Revamp
Clothing was one of the first things we did when acquiring the title. Therefore, its one of the oldest things we have not touched. I think we can do better with dyes, bolts of cloth, maybe custom embroidery images, etc. etc. Not as much thought on this but its certainly on the table for this year.

Donkeys & Mine Carts
Transporting ore through various levels, and across various levels of your mine should have a system to automate it. Its fairly complex in the ways we wanted to implement it but I'm hopeful somewhere in 2016 we can find space for it.

for Donkeys

More Risky Behavior incentives for playing in a Blood Moon
Animals will soon have the technology to know what season they died in. Which will create additional incentive to hunt in blood moons.
and what mean :D

There is nothing wrong about what was said. This would indeed be hard to implement into the game. You are aware that there is ONE person doing the coding and a majority of the testing right? His time spent working is extremely limited and valuable to the progress of the game. Him spending time and money on a system that isn't needed and doesn't do anything to improve the game is just silly. Instead he can use his time to improve everything that is lacking in the game along with adding more stuff into it. There are some huge overhauls in the works atm.

I really don't think you have operated in a professional environment if you don't understand "Man Hours" or "Productive System Hours".

it is not "impossible to implement"
it's just "not worth it to spend dev time on it when people have a perfectly fine alternative available"
Hence the reason why there is no irc interface in the salem client while the haven custom one had it. Not worth it when noone will use it (hell, everyone is using skype for other reasons anyway).

yes yes... lie more...

I made offer for him, i can help code/programist salem for my hobby time... but he say "code dont have many comment, is many ... ... ... " so he no need help.. so he have time for code ...

No. Dallane isn't lying. Though John isn't actually the only one doing all the coding, he's the only one (barring Loftar) completely familiar with everything in the code. Adding a new chat system would be something John would want to do himself and it would require a lot more time than you think. John explained to me once why client changes of any kind are ridiculously time consuming, but I don't remember or understand enough to explain it to someone else, so you'll just have to be content with 'it'll take more work than it's worth'. And just because he doesn't want to entrust the huge and delicate mass of server code so someone like you, barely coherent, seemingly a script kiddie, doesn't mean he has infinite time to code.

Indeed. Here is the full context. As you say, Meow completely butchered the context.

Replace Java with whatever programming language the game source is made with.
Programming is all about logic, and unless the source is built like a maze made out of potatoes, then it is not hard to implement said system.

It's better to just say that you wont do it, or don't understand how to do it rather than saying it's too difficult because it's not.

On this topic: difference between "too difficult" to be worthwhile and "impossible". You don't seem to grasp that. Additionally, the whole point of allowing custom clients is so that dev time can be spent on server-side code. It's also a neat example of secure net-code done right.

If you really think that writing a client in a combination of C, C++ and assembler is straightforward and generally a good idea, then please please try it out and get back to us with the results.

Are you saying he's not suggesting here to replace the java client with a client using the game code? Then I guess I don't know what his suggestion entails.

Wow!

Both you and Kandarim are thick-headed if you still can't figure it out.

He isn't saying to re-code the client! He is saying you can "replace" the use of the word "java" with "whatever the game server is coded in" (in this case C, C++, and ASM) and his argument is still sound - programming is logic.

His statement was a response to some smarty-pants who said "but but -sniffle-wheeze- teh client is written in java -fart-pisspants-"

I think this game needs a lot of ****, and it could start with developing more interesting and satisfying features of Towns and Alliances.

Do your research as to why this wouldn't work. You have no idea whats under the hood in salem to make that call. Not to mention the thread has JC saying he doesn't want this in game.

I cant wait to see what turd you churned out in game maker or unity.

You're right, I don't know what is under the hood of Salem. However I do know that a system like described would take only a few hours to make from scratch in Java, and maybe a few more to implement it into a chat system built on terrible code structure.

Dallane plz, sending text over network is not hard.
