assuming similar gear......
two 300 stat characters if they are good.
three 300 stat characters if they are mediocre.
four 300 stat players if they are ****.
since under any system the amount of resources required to make a 1000 stat character is literally 15x more than a 300 stat character the above seems more than fair to the lower stat combatants.

I've been pushing for a "Cricket Rodeo" skill at like 1k something or other for ages. The idea was that you could mount the cricket, ride around for a while with some slight control over its mostly random movements, with the cricket expiring after a while.

While I'm sure that Alloin doesn't have any bots(cause of what some Candy Gang members were asking me to do for them from time to time). It really isn't that hard to make one I made one few days/weeks after I stopped playing. It was much more efficient than I would be if I did same stuff by myself.(I think that I would never do such boring task by myself at all.) As I'm not big fan of making bots public(just look at hnh ) I didn't share or upload bot source anywhere. I had small hdd failure and had to format one of my hdds which left me only with pics I had puushed while making that bot. Pictures posted below have date in their names. It should be similiar to time that I made those modifications. This was one of test modifications I made for salem - wss/stump farm:
Nothing fancy. Just a client modification that made you relog with 6 different chars every X mins. Was made to test stump spawning mechanics. Cause of salem memory leak(leak is more visible in ender client than default one but both suffer from it) it was crashing after few hours of constant relogging and I was too lazy to check stumps/gather data so not much was done with it). Maps seem to unload randomly, ranging from 5 to 23+ mins.
How make fire purity?
Some first tests of getting purity readings for future bot. If I remember right at first it was just displaying purity values of item that you hold in hand. (Lead is at top and salt is fourth.
Baby first steps:
First :goto command. Was just centering you on tile and going specified x, y tiles away from place that you was standing at(:goto x y). Later on it gave birth to 2 commands :go and :goto. While :go was just old :goto command, new :goto was going x,y tiles from selected object (like boston town bell, giving you ability to never miss your secret water tile in ocean + them long clicks from boston to darkness )
Some random pics of working/semi-working "water purity checking bot" and collected data(was saved as plain text and manually exported to open office): Removing coords from screenies in case I have higher purity in there somewhere(go look for it yourself lazy asses -said by botter )
First fully operation bot. After coding it, went to sleep. Woke up hoping it still will be working. Unfortunately it didn't work for longer than 3 hours cause some small lag broke it
Some collected data after 2-3 hours of bot work. From top to bottom: normal purity bucket, best salt bucket etc.)
Newer working version(lag-even old hnh style one- wouldn't break this one. Still it was being defeated by mem leak. Could work without problems for 10+hours (never managed to see exact crash time cause I wasnt watching most of the time. Could be 12h or even 14h. Did only run it twice for such long time and both times at same area to test some small changes that I made.)
Part of final data after 12-18h of bot work. (around 1/8(or less, not sure anymore) of non darkness plymouth ocean)
So what exactly did this bot do? Pick up bucket from inventory, right click water X tiles away at north/south(first was 10 then I changed it to 25 tiles as it seems enough to find nice water spot), read alchemy values of water, if they are higher than wanted/you look for- write them and coords into text file, put bucket back in inventory, open flower menu and make bucket empty, repeat Y ammount of loops then move X ammount of tiles west/east(new row) and sail back while checking water. Repeat till crash/script turned off
Took me like 3 days, few hours each to get it done but I was getting easly side-tracked with reading unrelated parts of code when something interested me =) (thinking about some other mods, mostly gui related). Most of my java knowledge comes from modding hnh/salem so it wasn't that hard to do.
Adding like 4 more (2 small) functions and you could think about scripting whole farming/potting proccess. Add few more terrain checks and you'll have lime digging bot. It's easy.(and fun!) Just do it in small steps. Think what could be done with pathfinder(Aghmed hnh one looks sweet. Didn't try it myself but saw his topic.)
This bot wasn't as nice as some hnh ones.(maid <3) No external script loading from plain text etc. Bot was hardcoded and enabled with key combo/command which means that any changes made to it = recompiling. (for solo use it wasnt bad as recompiling just takes few seconds).
I think that salem would and will be botted if it gets high enough player base. You know how it is with power gamers (with client being written in java, everyone is being able to change the source. Bots will happen sooner or later.)
Anyway if you want to make bots for salem..go for it! It's fun!(although at times you'll want to hit wall with your head) Surely you'll have fun when your robot child will start walking and making stuff around
Just please..don't make your bots public. Don't share them with anyone. While they might ease the burden for everyone. Surely they will take away much more fun If you feel like botting 24/7 you are probably just bored with the game anyway. Just move on like I did and let everyone else have their fun with game(and/or grind =) )
PS. Posted this botty bot stuff as I saw bots being discussed in few threads lately. Was planning on doing it earlier but well..i knew i'll type some sort of wall of text so I tried to resist. I failed. cryevrtiem.

Finally. Of course it isnt, however I hoped that it would be alloin who would cling to this part of my statement so that atleast Id know that he is trying to get what Im saying. It already happened that after I voiced out my opinion he only came in to quote it as a "blahblahblah" while barely even providing any sort of a counter-argument.
But back on the topic - as said before - it is common sense that, knowing the human nature, if it is possible to bot, people will bot. And it is a bit beyond me that somebody would be so shortsighted as to only perceive the present situation [and apparently still be wrong about the current state of the bots existence in Salem] which, I believe, by many is considered as a dead state of the game.

Because I don't use big words without knowing what they mean just to look fancy -> this has a 'big' word too, kinda resembles you.
If it's possible to bot, ofcourse it is, i never said it wasn't, EVERYTHING is possible (to bot).
What i was saying, people like you, glenfinnan, shout bot left, bot right, bot here, bot there... but you don't have the capabilities to make a bot, and never will, and never had one or saw one in action.
Those who are able to make a WORKING bot know damn right it's not easy, and will also tell you they haven't built 1 fully working yet (inventory management, pathfinding & more) I only know of 2 (maybe 3) people who are able to make a Salem bot, and you are not coming near in a long time glenn.
(sorry chiprel, but screenshots can be faked easily, even though i know you are capable of making a bot, those screenshots say nothing)
Every kid can make a clickbot in the sea, or a haygatherer, or a limer...

Where did I mention that I have capabilities of creating a bot? In no way I am or [most likely] ever will be a programmer, nor have I ever said anything opposite. Somehow I dont feel surprised anymore that you turn a general discussion into a discussion about my humble persona. I thought we were discussing something else, not my programming abilities. If THAT was what you were saying, then Im out.
